Tours this year competing for the almighty dollar euro yen food stamps etc..Maybe the BB should have done reunion tour last year ..Fierce competition  IMHO. With all this goin on there isnt gonna be lots of sell outs..If i was working id easily hit close to  10 of these .. plus i left out others that were listed on MSN home page..Here goes.. Stones. Springsteen.Eagles.Dylan+ Knopler. Petty. Foo Fighters.  Aerosmith. Pearl Jam. Van Halen. Roger Waters. Sabbath w/Ozzy. Madonna.  Paul Simon. Plus a bunch of alternative rock acts.  Country acts.. Paisley Mc Graw Chesney Buffett ..Among others

I hear they are planning to perform 'Little Saint Nick' in a bunker on Dec 21.

 LOL

Besides the Boys, Van Halen would be a great show although I heard the new single and I don't care for it at least they have DLR again. I also think The Black Sabbath reunion with Ozzy is pretty awesome, unfortunately Tony Iommi has been recently diagnosed with lymphoma, hopefully he'll make a full recovery and will be rockin again!  Cool

I went through that entire 24-pic slideshow on MSN, which mentioned the Beach boys on the first page...

NO shots of them and it was taking forever to load. I did find out about the Dylan/Knopfler tour however which sounds like a winner.

Some of those interest me but not enough to make me reach for my wallet!  Only must-sees in my book this year are The Beach Boys, and Neil Young & Crazy Horse, if they get as far as the UK.  And Dan Arborise, who I strongly recommend to each and all of you.

Reunited Beach Boys might be worth it....but it's hard to say given the quality (or lack thereof) surrounding the Mike/Bruce incarnation for the last fifteen years.

Now, if Uncle Jesse happens to be there, I'm totally in. His forever > Dennis's.

Given the right promotion and fair ticket prices, the boys will be a must see..

I'd also like the highlight the word promotion , something The Beach Boys never seem to get

I myself saw Mike+ Bruce last time in 2008.They were VERY Good.!..The new version of the touring band was impressive. Between2000+ 2007 i saw them 4 times and they were OK.. We Americans dont get those long interesting shows that the Brits get..  But the turnaround is impressive.. Utube doesnt match a live show.

I just look at the setlists of Brian's shows and Bruce & Mike's and I'm appalled that both of them heavily neglect the late 70's through early 90's era of the band. Those songs were amazing and far, far more modern and recent than the earlier stuff.

Well, of course they're more modern and recent than the earlier stuff. How could they not be, unless someone had a time machine and was exporting 90s material back to 1961 for resale.

There are a few late 70s/1980 tracks I'd love to hear live but the band's heyday was in the 60s-early 70s. They're playing what the fans (and the general audiences) want to hear.

I saw the Boys in August at an outdoor show.  The sound suffered from high winds (there was a hurricane battering the North Carolina coast and they were playing in the North Carolina mountains) but it was a damn good show.  They didn't knock my socks off, but then again I was wearing sandals.  There's no doubt the band was a crowd pleaser but I was probably the only one there wearing a SMiLE shirt.  Pet Sounds was well represented but 1967 on was a bit slim.

Both Mike and Brian have most excellent bands in recent years.  For his age, Mike still sounds and performs quite well.  Brian is, in many ways, better vocally than he has been in decades.  And don't forget the stamina he has displayed being the lead singer of his band on the numerous tours over the past ten plus years.

I think the reunited band is definitely going to be worthy competition for any other classic act (group of old guys) on tour this year.   Who will make the most money is another yardstick.

Bring it on!

Well lets see..if i was workin and the concerts were spread over spring + summer{6 months}I"d buy tickets to: 2 BB shows in 2 different cities..Van Halen..Stones..Springsteen..Eagles..Tom Petty..Simon + Garfunkel..So that would be 8 shows + id take a date to 4 Shows.. I do like country music but i dont go to many C+W concerts..Clubs yea but not concerts..All these bands listed are gettin long in the tooth + for some its the last go round soon..Tom Petty is really startin to show his age + Simon + Garfunkel  are way past showin their age.Stones are celebrating 50th anniversary this year also.!

Speaking of Van Halen, I was thinking about going to see them in Chicago. They are there twice this Spring at 2 different arena's. The decent seats are US $150 plus service fees. What the hell? First ten rows or something $150 maybe, but even seats way back and far up are $150. The only time I paid that much was to see Fleetwood Mac in Milwaukee about 3 years ago and the place had TONS of empty seats at showtime. Obviously the promoters had way overpriced the tickets. Am I missing something? I can assure you the Beach Boys won't be able to get that for tickets over here.

I'm American and I can't stand Kiss or Motley Crue. I have a theory that for fans of those bands, the actual music is secondary to the spectacle, theatricality, showmanship, image, etc. I think a lot of teenagers in the 70s and 80s listened to that type of "music" not because it was any good, but only because it freaked their parents out.

Don't get me wrong, I definitely like Mike & Bruce Beach Boys. In fact, at their last show I went to Mike dedicated Still Cruisin' to myself & my friend Ben from stage (lol, don't ask....we were able to put in a special request) and called us diehard fans. But I'd like to state my opinion that the quality varies when its a casino show as compared to a theater show. I think the casino is more of a meat & potatoes thing and from time to time they dip back into their old ways whereas the theater thing seems to light a fire under them and they rise to the occasion a bit more. That being said, why would you miss a Beach Boys show when it came to town? Unless you are broke, there's no excuse really
