Which one do you prefer? Smiley I'm a huge fan of both groups but i'mma have to go with the beatles on this one, it just captures that early rock and roll feel :D mixed in with a little doo-wop.

It doesn't suck but it's not wonderful either. Wouldn't make my Top 50 Beatles, that's for sure.

That's fine. This sort of thing is subjective. I just find it a bit empty and annoyingly repetitive.

It depends. If the melody is interesting then the hook should always make you come back for me. For me, Oh Darling's melody (like I said) is basic, rather dull and uninventive - typical late-60s white Englishman's blues, kind of thing.

I can tell you like repetitiveness, all your threads are comparsion threads. ([insert] vs. [insert])

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

english soul is just as good as american soul Smiley

No it isn't. And late 60s Englishman "blues" (not soul), in particular, is awful. Early to mid-60s stuff was pretty good (early stuff by The Yardbirds, The Stones, etc.) mostly because it was tight and covers or very closely related to covers (think The High Numbers' "I'm The Face" vs. Slim Harpo's "Got Love if You Want It"). English music was at its best when it was finding its own territory.

I saw an interview with the Moody Blues about their early R&B period, and they admitted they had no clue what they were singing about due to the R&B music being about the poor American south and they were middle class Englishmen.

And yet Go Now by them is one of the greatest songs ever made.

Agreed, great British Invasion song that gave the Moodies their first taste of success.
