There is a picture of him in the "Rotogravure" cover but I don't think he participated in actual recording sessions (or was credited anyway). Hanging out with Ringo in that era (1976-1981) must have been pretty rough.

Possibly Ringo wrote this with Van Dyke at the same time as "Walk With You" from his last album... which wasn't an especially remarkable number, but it had a nice cameo from Macca!

The song/track is VERY reminiscent of ORANGE CRATE ART.

Ringo hanging out with Keith Moon during "the kids are alright" movie gives a big hint what he was doing. (drinking too much)

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

I see that Ringo and Sir Paul have CDs coming out only one week apart!! January 31 and Feb. 7 respectively. Big week for Beatlemaniacs!

Well...I heard Ringo's new single and it's utterly atrocious. I mean...REALLY awful. In my opinion.

I wish Ringo would reunite with Mark Hudson.

Could be worse...
Here's the original version of the same song Ringo released in 1977, on his legendarily booze-soaked "Ringo the 4th": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W66wXkVRauo
And here's the remake: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tu7qpQFGXZ0
Bit less of a '70s groove now, but at least on the new one, Ringo sounds like he's actually there!

The Nilsson documentary that came out a while back talks about this. Parks, Moon, Nilsson, Starr, Jimmy Webb, Lennon (before he moved back to NYC), and even more of these guys just constantly got wrecked..... What a set of drinking buddies...

All roads lead to Kokomo. Exhaustive research in time travel has conclusively proven that there is no alternate universe WITHOUT Kokomo. It would've happened regardless.

From memory, VDP arranges and possibly plays on Ringo's Stop and Smell the Roses album. If I'm not wrong I think the songs are Drumming is My Madness and the title track. Drumming Is My Madness actually has one of the worst drum breaks ever but both tracks are amusing. A host of notable others, McCartney, Harrison, Stephen Stills, Ron Wood included also appear on said lp.

And Brian was the guy in the background who was always wasted out of his mind.

I never knew that Van Dyke hung out with that crowd, or was a heavy drinker. I always pictured him as the upper class "intellectual" type who was always slightly above that type of behaviour.

VDP on new Ringo LP? Nice. I liked the last Ringo album, and much of his solo output in general. He's just fun.. and un-pretentious.
