How long have you had the Xtremesound card? What's your opinion of it?
I use headphones when I am up after everyone else has gone to bed. The Portapro is the first set I've had in a long time I can wear for extended periods of time with no discomfort.

I have had it only about 3 weeks. I like the crystallizer, it cleans up the music pretty well and to me gives it more depth. The only thing I don't like is the equalizer could have been a little better for 129.00. But overall I like it, I am just learning as I go how to run it.

I like the crystallizer as well. The surroundsound works sometimes, but I find that it makes music noisy for the most part, so I don't have it turned on.
I really did the way the card and software can clean up the noise on mp3s.

At first, I had ALOT of trouble with the bass sounding distorted, and at first I thought my SS was already messed up, but after realizing that I also have window media, real player, rhapsody, and music match, and they ALL have equalizers, and all the equalizers were turned on. I turned off all the equalizers except for the soundblaster, and it worked better. It may be coincidence, I don't know alot about the audio on this computer, but it did help some.

Do you know what the fundamental differences between using "wave" and "what u hear" as recording are?

I haven't messed with that yet using this new software, but I had an earlier version of soundlblaster in my old computer, I remember having to use "what you hear" for recording when I wanted a song to go from my realplayer to the wave studio, also if you want to record a song to send to the wave studio and you are singing on a mic, I always had to use "what you hear". I don't know the fundamentals of it, I need someone to tutor me about this program, because there is alot one can do with it, I just have to sit down on the weekends and learn about it, the old soundblaster was trial and error learning.

That's for certain, it comes with ZERO printed documentation, and the help files only get you so far.
I used "what u hear" to record some songs from Rhapsody to make a CD. I'll be able to say tomorrow how good the CD sounds.
