yeah the thing that sucks about Beach Boys fandom is that it's so small that if you get the same tattoo it'd be weird... I've thought about getting the bee as a tattoo but I guess I shouldn't.

If you like it then do it. I mean why not? It's not like you will ever run into his friends and they'll be all like "hey my homie's got that tattoo"
lmfaoooooo!! so fuckin true..

Like others have said, it might be a little weird to have just to have the album cover as the tattoo because it would be a square on your back or wherever and it's just BAM...there it is...an album cover on your body.  You should find an element or design inspired from the album cover to be the tattoo.  If there's any Beach Boy tattoo I"d consider getting it might be the Brother Records indian/horseback logo, or the SMiLE logo or maybe just a lyric like "God Only Knows..." or maybe "Good Vibrations"...but there's only one place to put a tattoo that says "Good Vibrations" ....and that place would really hurt
it won't be square it'll wrap around the arm and wind up being a sleeve Smiley.

I've got the bee from the Wild Honey album on my left arm (as posted by Al Jardine's Box) and the sun from BWPS on my right arm (combined with a bar with the opening notes of God Only Knows). I'm seriously considering getting either the Brother Records indian or something from the Smile artwork in the near future.

I want to get something Beach Boys related on my arm and i was wondering should i get Smile cover or Smiley Smile or maybe both combined..It'll be a half sleeve(from shoulder to elbow) , What do you guys think? Is it too much?
(I had to ask because you guys know what i'm talking about and i would really like to hear your opinions on this.)

If I were having something permanently inked on my body, I want to be sure enough to know what I wanted and not have to ask relative strangers.

Noted. I was about to solicit the boards opinion of the Rocky Pamplin tattoo on my buttocks.

Something like one of the Smiles, like on the Secret Smile cover, would do the trick - distinctive enough to say 'Brian Wilson is god' yet not an eyesore/constantly drawing attention to itself like a massive one of the Smile shop would be (Unless you get it on your face, or something LOL). I would never get one myself, but in other people I tend to think the smaller/simpler the better with tattoos. It's like any other accessory.

I wouldn't get a tattoo, but if I did, it might be the Beach Boys coca-cola style logo.  I bought some neat transfers of that design where the letters come off seperately, with no other backing.  The white lettering looks great on my black 64 impala and on my black beer fridge in the garage.  Probably would just look silly on my aging body.  I have a hat with the logo and that wil be the extent of it.  One can CHANGE or SWITCH a hat.

Gotta say though, the right tatt can add attitude on the right person.  Case in point;  my 64 year old female coworker, lifelong Stones fan, got a small tatt of the stones tongue on her calf.  Just right as tatts go.  And odds are, her tastes won't be changing at this stage of the game.

I really don't get the tattoo thing.

To each his own. I have seven tattoos and plan on getting a few more. To me it's pretty much the same thing as covering the walls of my home with nice pictures that I enjoy looking at, rather than just keeping them empty. And each of my tattoos symbolizes something, like my family, the travels I made, a band I played in, the music that I love... It feels good to be able to in a way always carry these things with me.
