Don't know if many will recall the Goons UK radio show of the late 1950s early 1960s. There are touches of their humour across Smile and Smiley Smile tracks.
For example Brian being trapped inside his piano.

No, but as an aside, there was some rock doc on the TV a couple of years back and some Rolling Stone stalwart was praising the off the wall eccentricities of certain Beatles tracks and putting it down to the use of illegal substances. Clearly didn't appreciate the Beatles love of the Goons.... Or maybe it didn't sound rock and roll enough.
