Hi everyone I wanted to update you all on my Beach Boys book I Can Hear Music. I have been hired to do an Elvis Presley book for Hal Leonard that will take up much of my time. I have a finished manuscript that I would like to submit somewhere, but I have no idea where. I haven't heard back from a few people that offered to help and frankly I am really saddened by this. Being so busy right now all I can do really is send it or perhaps have a meeting and/or phone call with an interested buyer or someone who knows one.

This book would not be what it is without the input of this board over the last seven odd years. It is a book for anyone who enjoys The Beach Boys and wants to read new interviews, facts, and viewpoints that are sometimes very different from what has gone in print before. It has been something I had the idea for back in 1994 and I finally got to where I wanted to be as a writer and quit my other writing gigs to finish it this year. After I finished I had to take new work on, so now here is where you all come in. If anyone has any information they can pass along to me about how to get this out please let me know. I am very sincere about this book as it is kind of my baby and if someone can help me do something with it, I will be very grateful and really try to make it worth your time. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I'd suggest Omnibus Press (they did the ComGuide)... maybe Backbeat (they just did Jon's latest BB book).

Thank you Andrew I will check those out! I'm doing the Elvis book through Backbeat actually as part of the same series.

I would also suggest CGI Publishing located in Canada.  http://www.apogeebooks.com/music.html

Their space-themed imprint Apogee published my tome on Apollo TV systems (Live TV From the Moon), and I know that they do _not_ have anything on their music book lists dealing with the Beach Boys. If you submit an unsolicited query letter, it may take several months, but they have a very aggressive marketing strategy.

I have heard of Helter Skelter and read their products but I don't know if they are still going.

Try Jawbone (they were recently picked up for US distribution by Hal Leonard) and Plexus (a UK outfit distributed in the US by Publishers Group West).  It's a long shot, by you might want to try Bazillion Points books in Brooklyn.  They mostly do Punk and Metal titles, but all of their stuff is quality and they know how to market their stuff.
