Spoken by Gene Gaddy, Barbara Rovell's husband, as we all know.

Wrong - been researching something else entirely and it turns out the guy's name was Harry Eugene Gaddy, and that he and Barbara weren't married until 2/20/70.

These things are important to me, y'know.  Smiley

Harry Gaddy?? Smiley

What did he do for a living?

That's quite a good claim to fame, though

Well, given the name, my guess is he was probably referred to as Gene and that's why the name circulated as such.

Interesting! So he and Barbara were dating in 66-67 but didn't marry until 1970? Interesting. Whoever ID'ed the folks in the airport photo may have said "Oh, that's Gene" if his friends didn't call him as Harry.

The man himself, far left:

Barbara was born in 1951-ish... so in that photo, she's 15, 16 if you really push it. A family trait, it seems. Gene is a year older.

So "you're under arrest" was spoken by Harry "Gene" Gaddy who was Barbara's boyfriend in 67 and later married her in 1970?

Anybody heard a session tape of this? I wonder how many times--and how many variations--he had to say YUA before he got to that goofy one they used.

Dunno, onk, but the BWPS DVD shows Nick doing several takes before Brian calls one perfect. It's very similar to Gaddy's performance...yet it's not the one that ended up on the CD! Been a great mystery to me for almost seven years. I much prefer the Gaddy version...

I always thought the original had a Spanish vibe to it.

And all this time I thought it was Denny that said it.

I blame Jeff Foskett. He didn't like that version. Reminded him of Love You (which he's hated ever since he had the mental breakdown and listened to it for 4 weeks straight while petting a pillow and eating push pops).

Yeah, and if you watch the concert portion of the Beautiful Dreamer DVD, you'll see and hear Nick do it the exact way that Brian tells him NOT  to do it in the studio.  LOL
