I remember first getting into teh boiz and listening to the opening of this over and over, and I swear I could hear a voice going on in there. Shame Asher's original opening line is lost to time. Sad

More recently, I've thought Carl did the verses, too. Not shocked to hear someone say evidence has been brought forth as to it being Carl. Still puzzled by the slight Southern accent or whatever the hell is going on there, but ah well. Maybe it was just a matter of, "Hay, this isn't a final vocal, I'm gonna dick around a bit. Tee hee." - Carl Wilson

Also, wasn't the story (well, someone's story, anyway) that Dennis was meant to sing the verses of the final "Good Vibrations" but became ill and Carl substituted? Or was that a bunch of bullmerda?

I can't imagine Dennis singing something in such a high key...

Yeah, me too - swung between the two, but was eventually presented with compelling evidence.
Please present us with the evidence as well!

Sure... but not right now.

Listen again to the verses... check the enunciation... that's Carl.

The version of GV I love is the one on SOT, which is fully developed but done in one take ala Pet Sounds The middle section has that funky flute and bass harmonica. Wish we had a version of this with vox. I'm guessing this was the template from which the edit version grew.

Had this version been finished and ended up on Pet Sounds as originally planned, I wonder if it would taken the place of Here Today?

Why is the first line always missing from this early version?

Because it's not there ?  Grin

President Bush used to meet with his CIA chiefs once a week.  He'd start every meeting by asking, 'why haven't we found bin Laden yet?'  And always got the same answer: 'because he's hiding, sir.'

I never heard Carl sound like that not even on Darlin were he has his nasal Brianish voice, he is in there but bellow Brian.
