What would Dennis Wilson do?

Having not read either of them, I am eagerly awaiting the new addition of Stebbins' The Real Beach Boy and Desper's book. Is there any news on these books? Are there other books that are in the works that I should be anticipating?

Also, I'm about to get a kindle and  there seems to be a lack of BB ebooks available. Sad

I've not heard anything specific on a new edition of The Real Beach Boy but would love to read a updated version, I'm also really looking forward to Jon's new Beach Boys FAQ book which should be out this month Jon?

Speaking of updated versions of books, when is AGD going to do an updated version of the Complete Guide? Lots of stuff has been released since the last version in 2004 - Gettin' In Over My Head, BWPS, What I Really Want For Christmas, That Lucky Old Sun, BWRG, Pacific Ocean Blue reissue, Postcard from California and soon The Smile Sessions and In The Key Of Disney. I would love to read Andrew's review of GIOMH which should be hilarious!  Smiley

They should have re-released "Look, Listen, Vibrate, Smile" considering all that's going on  Undecided

IIRC, Jon was considering an updated version of The Real Beach Boy to coincide with POB's 2008 reissue . As for Stephen's book, unless I've missed something, I didn't realise an update was in the works. I sure hope there is as it's a fascinating read.

Last I heard, Mr. Desper was working on updating his book "Recording The Beach Boys" but then took a hiatus with it after getting sick with Shingles. He's back in business now, and I'm thinking if enough people express interest in it, he'll feel motivated to finish it!

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Yeah that's the last I heard as well.  I really hope he does, I've been itching to get my hands on that book for a long time.  If the posts he's made here over the years are any indication, it'll be a real treat to read!

I'm there. I hope that he can expand upon the work he did with The Beach Boys pre-Sunflower/Surf's Up too!

I am dying to read "Recording The Beach Boys" by Mr. Desper. I remember reading the bulk of that Desper Archive somewhere... so informative and so enjoyable to read! A whole book of it would be awesome. I am eagerly awaiting the reissue of The Real Beach Boy and am holding off reading the original pressing until the new one comes out. So i  really hope Mr Stebbins and Mr Desper can find the time soon to finish off these books!

I hope someone writes a book about Mike Love: The Teal Beach Boy

Woah, did Amazon JUST change their layout? It's kinda weird.

Oh and consider the book pre-ordered by me. If 9/20 is the day, I should be getting it the same day as the blu ray edition of Dumbo  LOL

Count me in on that one.  If it's anything close to as good as Geoff Emerick's book (Here, There, and Everywhere) on recording The Beatles, we're in for a killer treat.  I hope Desper brings all the personal band stuff into it like Emerick did.  If he only talks about the recording aspect, that will be ok with me, but it probably won't be as exciting.

Emerick's book is fantastic. And I too would LOVE a book on the recording techniques used in The Beach Boys music (especially during the Sunflower, Surf's Up, Friends period).

I've read considerable criticisms of this book, notably from Ken Scott - http://www.royalgenes.biz/rec.music.beatles/thread499.html.
