Odd mixing on Bruce's songs?

I've noticed that a lot of Bruce's songs seem to be mixed in a strange way, particularly the vocals. When listened to on headphones, they sound as if they are through some kind of filter, for lack of a better term. Not only on his written songs such as "Disney Girls" and "Tears In The Mornin'," but also songs he was involved in the production of, like "Goin' On." Has anyone else noticed this and any reason for them appearing that way?

I think Bruce just has an out-of-this-world voice. He sounds like a skinny sexy black woman.
