I was just reading an old newspaper article with an interview with Mike and Carl from '75. Carl was asked about "Fire" and part of his answer was the following.

We've all had intentions to finish that album, but something persists  that keeps that from happening, and I don't know what it is.

I think that's really a cool quote. Can't even say why, but all those attempts to finish/release it and then Brian records BWPS and now we'll get the Smile Sessions..... or not....?

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

That's a good quote. There's another where he says something about Brian needing somebody to help him finish Smile - that this might be the answer in the future or something. Not sure, but it was a good premonitory quote. Anyone have this quote to hand?
