So, why was this song not on the 2000 Twofer??

Wasn't it on the original CD issue of BBs 85

Seems silly to me.

Just wondering....

Are you sure about that? Male Ego is on my 2000 KTSA/BB85 Twofer.

It's there.

On the original pressing, it was a bonus track on the CD. It wasn't on the vinyl or cassette.

Male Ego is my favorite song on that album! Maybe second behind Where I Belong.

Well, maybe you should before asking the question. Why even ask if you have never even skipped over to it? It is on both CD releases of BB85.

Because I'm either:

A) a complete idiot

B)  it's simply not listed on the back of the twofer CD!

or:

C)  both options are correct.

I hope you made it to the part in the album where Carl performs: Where I Belong, that's a highlight.

That is mildly interesting. It is listed on my Twofer. But if your copy doesn't have it listed.... scan please !  Smiley

My twofer does NOT have it listed. I've seen the twofer in stores a few times and I don't remember ever seeing a version with it listed. It's on my copy, after It's Just A Matter of Time. It's properly indexed as a seperate track, but there is no mention of it on the back of the cd. The lyrics are printed in the book though.   Grin

Maybe the U.S. release didn't have it listed, where the European one did.

Oh, I've hear the whole album Smiley

I've certainly played my vinyl copy front to back endless times, and Carl sounds just gorgeous on Where I Belong!

The problem I run into on the KTSA/BBS 85 twofer is that I get to Getcha Back and then have to skip straight back to Goin On and then listen to my favorite two Beach Boys tracks back to back endlessly  Razz

And I just checked: Male Ego is not listen on the back of my CD

This is weird, from what's been said here some versions (possibly US?) don't have it listed on the back but do have the lyrics in the insert, whereas my twofer has it listed on the back but doesn't include the lyrics in the liners.

Did the notion of actually putting the CD into the player and, at the very least, comparing the number of tracks on the back of the case with the readout or even - radical concept i grant - listening to it, not occur to you ?

Well, just in case it didn't, I am greatly humbled by your empathy and wisdom!

Hey, a thought occurred to me while at work, and I KNOW the song isn't listed on the back of my CD, so I mistakenly assumed it was not included in the KTSA/BBs 85 package, and I simply asked!

If my main goal in life was being right all the time about everything without fail, I probably wouldn't even be a Beach Boys fan.

Nope, just astonished that someone who (presumably) knew the track was on the original CD could be so unadventurous as to accept the back of the original 2fer without questioning it or, evidently, without bothering to read the booklet which mentions said track as one of Brian's contributions. Beach Boys fans can be most strange people, and I speak from personal experience (being both).

My recollection is that the song was not listed on the back cover of US copies when it came out in 2000, and the at least apparent reason was simply that whoever put together the back cover artwork was working off of a vinyl copy of the album to enter the track information, rather than actually listening to the CD, and of course vinyl copies of the album did not include the track (as is evidenced by the vinyl album artwork they used for this CD reissue).

I was at work and didn't have the CD or booklet handy and was stupid enough to ask in a public forum where there are those (very few, thank God) who will happily pounce on such an opportunity to point out the inferiority of others. I made myself easy prey and couldn't care less. I'm merely a human.

But, AGD, if I ever need help getting a CD out of its case and into the player, you are obviously the go-to guy.

I've had it since 2000 and have never made it all the way through it  in one listen, due to my earlier described problem of not being able to stop myself from listening to Goin On and Getcha Back in an endless loop. If I want to give BBs 85 a spin, I'll just play my vinyl disc.

The CD actually got soaked in spilled coffee about a year back, so I can't even open the booklet, if that helps  Razz
