If the BB are gonna do 50th anniversary concerts, I hope Blondie & Ricky join them - after all they were full-fledged members and some of the best BB songs/albums come from that period. Smiley

BTW, suggested listening - "Between us" by Blondie from 2006 - a really nice album. Listen here:

And why not Glen Campbell?  Smiley

Well, first of Glen was never a full fledged Beach Boy, but maybe (just maybe), he could be one, of verrrrry few guests.

I myself on the other hand, would love if they included Blondie and Ricky, but I just doubt it. Maybe they get them on stage for "Sail On, Sailor" but that's probably about it. I'd say it is probably nearly set that The Beach Boys for the 50th anniversary are Brian, Mike, Al, and Bruce, with obvious respect shown to the departed Carl and Dennis. And I do think David Marks should be given some credit too for playing on a nice handful of songs that nearly everybody knows, but who knows with BRI.

I'd say it'd probably be even more of a mess if The Byrds ever try to do something. It's obvious they'd probably do the same thing I'm expecting for The Beach Boys and just have "The Byrds" be McGuinn, Crosby, and Hillman, although other living members include Gene Parsons and John York.

I'm talking about the big hits. I know he played on what, at least the first 3 albums.

Thru LDC, so that would be 4.

Just suppose Fairport Convention ever tried to get every surviving member on stage. Don't think there's a stage big enough. Saw about 3,546 of them on stage at Nostell Priory in 1982 (and Fairport weren't even billed as playing) and it was a bit like the Bonzo Dog's "And Introducing…" song/sketch!

Remember the concert footag in "Nashville sounds" ? It'll be like that if they do a show....  Sad

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

I don't think you can get McGuinn in the same room as 'the Cros' nevermind the same stage.

Crosby would never do it with anyone other than the original 5 members.  He doesn't consider any members after him to be 'Byrds.'  Since Gene and Michael are gone, it  leaves the trio, which is fine by me.  I don't really consider anyone but the original five to be the real Byrds.  It really became The Roger McGuinn Band in 1968 and had very little connection to the magic of the orginal lineup.  To this day, one of the biggest mistakes in rock history was not having Gene Clark in a Brian Wilson role for them while they toured.  His songwriting and singing would have kept them at the top, though it's pretty obvious that Crosby's ego and insecurites would have led to the same boiling point in 1967 and Crosby would still be fired! Grin

Back on topic, I agree that Blondie singing Sail On Sailor would be the most realistic scenario.
