If I'm not tragically mistaken today (16th here in Ireland now) is the 45th anniversary of the greatest album of all time Pet Sounds.

Every year this album keeps finding a new generation of kids and will continue to do so for years to come.

For 45 years it's been the greatest officially released Beach Boys album, that will all end in a couple of months though  Grin

That's funny: that was also the exact same day that Mao Zedong started the Cultural Revolution.

Released 19 years...and 2 days before my birthday.

Obviously, a predictor of greatness  Grin

Happy birthday, Pet Sounds!

I teach English at an inner-city high school.  I always play music on my laptop while the kids work on the bellringer.  Today, they were treated to the Live at the Roxy versions of Let's Go Away For a While and Pet Sounds, as well as Wouldn't It Be Nice and Hang On To Your Ego.  They didn't complain one bit!

pet sounds is my 9 yo daughter's second favorite album on her ipod, after "ocean eyes" from owl city  Undecided

youthful folly so i can't fault her entirely. i suppose owl city has its merits...her music taste could be worse.

when i was 9 i thought kenny loggins' footloose was epic. i remember thinking there would never be another song to match it's joie de vivre; it's compositional sublimity...and that bridge.

everybody cut
