Can you post some  pictures of what you have that isn't shown?

Nope.  I don't have all the time in the world like you do, Bgas.  I have to work for a living.

yea sure, that's always your excuse. you want everyone else to post pictures, but you can never be bothered to do the same.

I wonder if the person who took this picture will be getting the box set  Grin

That's it?  I'm under the impression that most posters here have scads more than what is shown; averaging two-three rooms full of stuff!

Yep, definitely got more than that - (weeping whilst looking into my empty wallet....)  Grin

It was you, and you will. I claim my $ 2.50.

Not owning them, I can't be sure, but several of those items look as though they don't exist, which means this picture doesn't count.  Towards what, I don't know.

They all exist. I have them all.  Embarrassed

Same here. It looks pretty good on my shelves! Grin and some items are missing in that pic Wink

I love the way all Vintage Music's post are preceded by a diatribe against Steve Hoffman & his hoards!

Not all my posts.  Besides I think it's useful to know, that if Hoffman doesn't remaster
an album it's not worth buying. Do you realize how much money I have wasted over
the years? Is it true the real thing blocking Barry's knighthood is the Hoffmanites disapproval?

I Like that bootleg with the Frank Holmes art, if I knew how to make images come out of my
printer at the right size, I would use that for my personal copy!

Question, should the Smiley songs not included in the original Smile tracklist, also be used

as extra's on the SMile box ? in other words, doesn't the Smile box trump Smiley Smile and make
it obsolete except for the songs not originally included in Smile ?

Ha ha, you just proved my point! It's like you're clearing your throat or something!

Not sure about Smiley stuff. Is the dividing line definite? They could probably get away with including some of the H&V sessions from Smiley but anything other than that might get people's backs up. Personally I'd love it all mashed together, but not at the expense of genuine Smile era material.

Now a Smiley box set would be pretty sweet ...

I never suggested to anyone else but you to post pictures on this board, Bgas. I figured that you have a good collection of paper goods to share and since you're on this board all day long and half the night seven days a week, you might as well make yourself useful. Great job so far! Keep up the good work! Thanks!

I, I love the colorful clothes she wears, and she's already working on my brain. I only looked in her eyes, but I picked up something I just can't explain. I, I bet I know what she’s like, and I can feel how right she’d be for me. It’s weird how she comes in so strong, and I wonder what she’s picking up from me. I hope it’s good, good, good, good vibrations, yeah!!

Looking at all these boots with Frank Holmes' Smile shop cover... I guess that I can see why Capitol is thinking about tweaking it a bit (with 3d effects, supposedly).

If Capitol used the cover "as is," fans might not be able to distinguish the genuine article from all of the unauthorized releases... even within their own collections.  LOL

This release is called The Smile Sessions. Not The Smile Sessions with a bit of Smiley Smile, some Wild Honey, a touch of Friends and hell, a sprinkling from Love You.

Here's a few photos to compare and contrast.

Disclaimer: Do NOT trust dates and captions from Getty Images...vintage 60's photos tend to be captioned and dated incorrectly more than they are accurate.

Here is the shot of Brian at piano, deliberately over-lightened to show the background:

Note the colored sound baffle or gobo in the background as well as the blue carpet and wood floor.

Here is the shot of Mike and Al in front of the same baffles and on the same blue carpet:

And here is Dennis at Columbia, same time:

No doubt it's Columbia, the backgrounds and baffles they used are the same in all the photos.

The wild card is this shot of Brian:

He's standing on a car across the street from a Mark C. Bloome tire store. According to Getty's caption, it's October 1966 in Gardena, CA. I don't believe that caption or date is accurate, but who am I except someone making a guess?

Notice he is wearing the exact same maroon shirt and white pants as he's wearing in the piano shot at Columbia.

Any further info on the origins of the Bloome tire outdoor photo would clear up a lot of questions! For now, I'm staying with the Surf's Up-at-Columbia theory for the piano shot.

Oh dear... oh dear, oh dear... in the course of looking for something else entirely, I came across a pic of Brian* wearing almost the exact same clothes (different sneakers is all), exact same hairstyle. He's at a piano, at home apparently, feet up on the music stand, writing something. So what ?

So, there's someone else in the picture. Someone who shouldn't be there if it's December 1966. Some called Tony Asher.

Crap.

If it were just the clothes, I could argue Brian had a closet full of white pants and shirts like that... but the hair, and his degree of chubbiness, are identical. Shot was almost certainly taken at the same time as the one of BW and TA with the Scully.

I'm confused - are you saying all the above shots were therefore taken during Pet Sounds, not Smile?

But we're really only talking about a difference of 8 months, right? I know things moved fast in the 60s (and in Brian's world), but I don't have trouble believing Brian would wear some of the same clothing he bought 8 months earlier (he had been wearing white pants since '64, right?). Are the above photos consistent with how Brian appeared in other photos from Dec. '66? Apart from the use of glasses during the PET SOUNDS period, Brian looked about the same in early '66 as he did in late '66. His appearance only starts to change when he grows the beard.

Yeah, I changed my mind I just thought of something - check his sideburns! That would be the thing that would most readily change given one normally shaves everyday.

(I'm starting to get bugged by this board's codes rewriting things - I chose to use the word E-D-I-T to imply I had something to add, but I DID NOT "change my mind")
