You've GOT to be kidding me!  What about the reports from the previous page that they were getting more in and still expected a Nov. 1 delivery?  And why send them to people that just ordered as opposed to those that ordered on day 1?

I'm not going to tell you what to do with your money but I'll be checking in tomorrow morning and if they give me the back-order story that they gave you I'm immediately canceling my order with them.  They will not see a dime of my money for "The Smile Sessions". I will pursue other dealers in obtaining it.   As you said unbelievable and unacceptable.

Why in the hell do people order these things from Amazon or somewhere like that anyways?  Just drive to the store and buy it when it comes out.  No worrying about shipping.  No worrying about getting a beat up copy.  I just don't get it.  I know they're cheaper sometimes but in most cities you can get it just as cheap somewhere, Best Buy, Target, whatever.  I bought Brian's "Disney" CD off the shelf at Best Buy for 10 bucks.  Ain't no way in hell anybody beat that online.  

I mean I understand if you're in a small town and nothing's around that might have it, but most people live at least within an hour or so of some kind of major store that would carry it.

Too many times have I gone to a store on the day of a release, only to be told they had only gotten "one or two copies that were bought already."

Quite simply there is no guarantee any of those places you mentioned are going to stock a box set.  In my experience you have a better chance finding a set like this in a independent record store which caters to more of a hardcore music fan/collector crowd than any of the chains.  I'm going to do some serious recon tomorrow though and I'll keep you all updated as to what I find out.

Yeah but now your just being chicken littles. After all the bitching people did about Phil Cohen. Amazon is pretty consistent, and guarantee priority shipping. I bet you'll all get yours on release day as planned, no freak outs required.

Go to best buy.  Buy the cd.  


now, if that doesn't work, I go to plan B.

Drive from best buy, to Wal Mart.  Buy the Cd.  

If even THAT doesn't work, I go to plan C.

Drive from Wal Mart, to Target.  Buy the CD.

IF BY SOME CHANCE, that doesn't work, I go to plan D.

Drive from Target, to Manifest music.  Buy the CD.

etc. etc.  There are about 30 stores within about 30 minutes of me who will have this CD.

Order online.  Don't get the CD.

Leave it to Bruce Willis, whose box shipped, to get on his high horse and tell other people that pre-ordered 2 months ago that their item is not in stock, to not be concerned.  Lame.

Exactly.  My Best Buys are only getting in the 2-disc version.  Wal-Mart and Target won't get the box.  And my local indie store is only getting 2 copies.  So yeah, wish we all lived next door to 4 record stores like some of these guys, but that's not realistic.

All I'm saying is, people are now frieking out when it wasn't that big of a deal in the first place.  When CD's come out, you don't have to preorder them, you don't have to keep checking your shipment status, you don't have to worry about the mail.... the record companies SHIP THIS sh*t TO THE STORES YOU ALREADY SHOP AT!

... and if you like mom and pop CD stores, that's cool!  They'll all have them too.  I've got about 4 or 5 I know of around here that will have it.

Psst.  George.  If you *really* want the CD, I know a place you can buy one.  It's this little known place nobody wants to tell you about.  They even put them in every city.  It's called "Wal-Mart".  Box Set.  2CD set.  1 CD.  They got all that sh*t.  It's already in their back room.  They'll put it on the shelf midnight monday.  So if Amazon screws you, just look up "Wal-Mart" in the phone book.  OR, you could just drive 2 miles in 1 direction from your house and invariably bump into one.

I'm sure Lawl-Mart is gonna be stocked wall to wall with Smile box sets. They're a good source for music imo.

Seriously, man.  No need to be mean about it.  You'll have to excuse me if I don't prefer to shop at Wal-Mart...in the Baltimore area, it's not exactly the "place to be", especially considering the recent story in a which a woman was followed into the store and attacked with bleach and pine sol by a stranger.

The bottom line is: I ordered from Amazon, which is highly-regarded online store, very early on, and my order has seemingly been backordered while others who ordered much later will be receiving their sets on-time. I have a right to be a little irked.

I bought the Disney album from Amazon for $9.99 and it was in my hands the Monday before the Tuesday release date.

The Best Buys in Orange County don't stock much stuff.

Well, 12 hours exactly till I can walk into HMV and buy SMiLE.

I went into hMV in Bangor today and asked for TSS. The young lad behind the counter looked it up on his computer and said not out until tomorrow. "Got it in stock?" I asked. "yes," says he, "but I can't sell it to you cos we'll get fined for selling it early."

So he lost a sale and I drove the 150 miles home in silence. Cob Records, 200 yards down the road, probably would have sold me a copy if they opened Sundays - the HMV guy admitted as much.

Harrrumph.

Still, Amazon.uk tells me it's shipped. My impatience remains!

Nothing to get too freaked out about yet.  The majority of people were told that it's going to be shipped tomorrow and delivered on Tuesday.  As Ron also explained there are several other options available to consumers should they choose to pursue them.
