Carl singing "canvas the town and brush the backdrop" is cool. almost certainly wouldn't've been on '67 Smile, but it sounds really cool, so I'm okay with it.

True of many things here, really. A fair amoint of things here were recorded after 67. So hay.

I know it was recorded in like '71 or whatever, but what I mean is that even if Smile had been completed in '67, Surf's Up almost certainly wouldn't have Brian singing the whole lead except for "canvas the town and brush the backdrop", it would likely either be a Brian lead the whole way through or a Carl one. that's why I'm saying.

Cabinessence didn't have a lead vocal recorded 'til 20/20, but that doesn't mean if it had been released in '67 it would have been without a lead.

Naw, d00d, I'm on your side, here.

does anyone else hear what I mean? Doesn't Brian's vocal seem Laggy?

Compared to what???

Compared to the same demo version this vocal is sourced from that we've had for nearl two decades, I'd imagine?

Ah ballz. I'm super far from home, on my mom's work laptop (thus can't install anything), super slow hotel connection, and the clips are loading ridiculously slow/choppily. Anyone able to save them from the site and send, mayhaps? = )

After Listening in Mono (Besides H&V)

Stereo H&V = Incredible

Surf's Up = The Vocals, while "curiously placed" sound fantastic

Look = sh*t. The vocals are just TERRIBLE.

Barnyard = The Opposite of Look

A kind soul sent me a 7 meg zip file with the clips. After a good dozen attempts of it telling me it'll be 30 minutes (what is this, 1998?), then an hour (what is this, 1996?), then an hour and fifty minutes (ASIGJauigwehge), I gave up. This, after the water here being off all day, among other things. Best hotel ever, and such a fine time for me to be away from home until Saturday Sad

I love how many of you already hate "Look" based on, what, 12 total seconds of vocals from a low quality MP3?

I think it all sounds great. All the back-and-forth on the board had kept my enthusiasm down a bit, but these previews definitely have me more excited now.

Okay, after hearing some of this stuff that's been made known of today...I don't think I'll ever hear the old Smile music like I used to...and trust me, that's a wonderful thing.

As I'm listening to these little snippets one thing needs to be said. The backing vocal montage. I know it's just a 30 second preview. but good lord. If there was any doubt that The Beach Boys are the greatest vocal group of all time, those doubts will be put to rest.

Again, what are people expecting to see in this thread?  We're all going to discuss every bit of news we find.  Not clicking on the thread is probably your best option.  It's not like audio samples automatically play when you click on this thread.  You have to go TO them.

WOW. I clicked on one track from the H&V sessions (that's all I'm going to allow myself)....But WOW. I am stunned at the quality of the audio. Just stunned. That tiny snippet was incredible and I can't wait to hear this whole thing.

Initial reactions on snippets, bearing in mind low bitrate quality, out-of-context et al - which I'm sure I'll be called up on: sessions sound amazing, and well worth the price of the box. Disappointing lack of bvs on Worms, all things considered, fly-in on Barnyard fine, swear I've heard less obtrusive/better timed fan mixes of Great Shape (though this could be thwarted expectations talking). Surf's Up (both versions) amazing. Fire vocals great. Look fly-ins slightly distracting but probably great for new listeners. Child sounds phenomenal. Any regrets about ordering 3 boxes - one for me and two as gifts? No f*****g way. Can't wait.
