How’s that view from the nosebleed seats?

Kind of a lame joke.
I was very hopeful for new stuff.

I would hope there will be a different cover design scheme for 1968.

I dig the cover art for the 1967 releases. Far, far better than the Extension set cover art for previous years.

But yeah, I would assume they wouldn't continue to use that same template for future releases. I also don't think they'd announce such a release literally at the beginning of the year.

I'm still hoping something more elaborate than simply 50-year-extension sets are coming at some point. As in, a live boxed set, a Brian "demos/home tapes/bedroom tapes" whatever you want to call it set, and some other more focused rarities sets.

But if they can even continue on at the same pace as the 1967 releases, that would be great.

I’ve been having similar thoughts though I have been thinking “The Beach Boys 1968 - Through The Good Times And The Tears”...perhaps is a little too long

I’m sure we could come up with several cool potential titles between us

Might get hate for this, but I see no problem with

DO IT AGAIN: 1968

Might get the song DIA a little love again, after the horrible '17 remake!

What would Dennis Wilson do?

What are we expecting or hoping for from a 1968 based release?

Looking at the Bellagio site (http://esquarterly.com/bellagio/gigs68.html), 1968 contained all the sessions for Friends *and* 20/20... and more. That's a fair whack of stuff. I am looking forward to some different mixes (instrumental, a capella), different takes etc. but I'd really love to hear some long form session recordings to hear where Brian was at and perhaps hear the other members (and Desper even) step up a bit more in the studio (Carl producing I Can Hear Music) if audio of this exists.

'FRIENDS' songs
  • Meant For You
  • Friends
  • Wake The World
  • Be Here In The Mornin'
  • When A Man Needs A Woman
  • Passing By
  • Anna Lee, The Healer
  • Little Bird
  • Be Still
  • Busy Doin' Nothin'
  • Diamond Head
  • Transcendental Meditation

'20/20' songs
  • Do It Again
  • I Can Hear Music
  • Bluebirds Over The Mountain
  • Be With Me
  • All I Want To Do
  • The Nearest Faraway Place
  • Cotton Fields
  • I Went To Sleep
  • Time To Get Alone
  • Never Learn Not To Love
  • Our Prayer
  • Cabinessence

Other
  • You're Cool As You Can Be
  • I'm Confessin'
  • Our Happy Home / Our New Home
  • My Little Red Book
  • Walk On By
  • We're Together Again
  • Been Way Too Long
  • Walkin’
  • Ol’ Man River
  • Sail Plane Song
  • Fig Plucker
  • A Time To Live In Dreams
  • All I Wanna Do
  • Moni Kani
  • Oh Yeah
  • …and a few more “untitled” tracks

Plus, plenty of live shows and tv appearances.
aaand sessions for Charles Mansion, Ron Wilson and Honeys.

<< hear the other members (and Desper even) step up a bit more in the studio (Carl producing I Can Hear Music) if audio of this exists.>>

The Unsurpassed Masters boot series includes audio from the "I Can Hear Music" sessions - Carl laying down the initial track with Dennis, then some overdubs including one featuring Carl, Dennis, Bruce, and Mike Kowalski.

I think I have that somewhere, will definitely have to find it and give it a listen. But yes, more of that kind of stuff would be amazing.

Just a hunch, but I doubt we'll be seeing Fig Plucker or Oh Yeah on the archival release(s).

Has it ever come out who the child was on Oh Yeah, and what the story was there?

COMMENT to ♩♬☮ Billy C ♯♫♩☮ :

Billy I can't divine a new song into existence, but I think I can put a smile back onto your face.

If you like Friends, the album (with the lyric "lets be friends"  or "we've been friends now for so many years") . . .

Go to my website and on page 3 click on the "FRIENDS" button

This will bring up my re-mastering of the Friends Album, which is better sounding than you have ever heard. The panorama is enlarged, some parts heretofore buried are now audible, and some sections have been completely re-worked, for the better.

Give a listen and see if you don't re-discover this album and come away with a smile on your face.

Good Listening,  ~Stephen W. Desper

TY will check it out when I get home. Wild Honey, Friends, and 20/20 are my top 3 favorite BB albums (other 2 in top 5 are sunflower and holland, for what it's worth)
