Shave the beard and remove the cigarette, and he looks like he did in 1969 (the same picture as on the cover for Peter Carlin's book)

I'd like if Brian didn't expose his massive belly, 1st & 2nd, the fat Brian era isn't a synonym of "cool" to me. 60s Brian was where it's at.

To each their own. But agreed, 60s Brian is the coolest era for him.

I love this photo. Get a grip Marianne - every Brian era is cool. First saw it when Shady snagged it for his current avatar, and found it all over the internet. Seems it was just posted this month for the first time.
If you put it in your pictures file, you will find it has information on it.
Dated: 30 August, 1976. Taken by Washington Post staff photographer James A. Parcell outside the Watergate Hotel. So - either staying there, or having a presser. That night The Beach Boys played Capital Center, Largo, Maryland. According to
Bellagio
(yes Andrew we do use it
sorry, couldn't resist) - was Brian's first show outside California since March 1970.
Has anyone seen any other photos from this date?

Who are those other people? I see a few I recognize, but I don't recognize the last few on the right....who are they?
The last few people on the right include members of The xx from South London, and Nottingham's Natalie Duncan.
Didn't see anyone post the date...28 September, 2012 - Jools Holland Show. That may be just the air date of the show. When I first saw it, thought the lady next to Natalie (on the far right) might be Tracey Thorn (Everything But the Girl), but she's not listed as being on the show. metal flake paint is such a great researcher...complete line-up: The Beach Boys, PiL, Muse, The xx, and Natalie Duncan.

It's about the grimace not the hat. See the Laughing Gravy-thread
