Wow, you think so?  I always thought it was a throwaway.  What makes you think it's like the Beatles?

I dunno, it just has that Beatles (circa 1967-68) vibe, one that Gilberto Gil's version lacks. It's not really "about" anything, like most Beatles tunes from 1967-68. I still maintain that Os Mutantes' first album is a psychedelic meisterwerk that still has not received its proper due (Ian, you HAVE to listen to this band, they will FLOOR you!).

I'll keep that in mind and try to listen soon.  Thanks for the thoughts.

I was just listening to HOLLAND. Even though I knew it, it just now struck me as interesting that Carl sings lead on both of Dennis' songs - "Steamboat" and "Only With You". Carl does a terrific job, but I wonder what prompted Dennis to give 'em up? Was Dennis' voice starting to go like Brian's?

Then I realized that with Carl singing lead on "Trader", some of "Funky Pretty", and "Better Get Back In Bed", maybe the group thought  HOLLAND was becoming the Carl Wilson Show and suggested that Blondie sing lead on "Sail On Sailor". I still wish Carl would've sang (the released) lead on "Sail On Sailor"...

new UNCUT CD - includes To Be Someone by The Jam, Another Nail in My Heart by Squeeze, new Beth Orton track, Richard Thompson doing Squeeze's Tempted (just ordered the box - Yay!). Damn fine comp. Oh - and an Arctic Monkeys track which is VERY ordinary. As good as The Jam? Not on the same continent!

George Martin Orchestra - Sea of Monsters

The Yellow Submarine soundtrack album is a waste of money. Good thing I downloaded it.
