Smiley Smile Stuff / Smile Sessions Box Set (2011) / Re: TSS - All things Cabinessence

I have come to prefer the mono mix of this. There is a drive and pulse in the mono that is not as aggressive to my ears in the stereo version. As far as the hiss, I didn't even notice it until it was pointed out to me on this site. I don't even notice it now. I guess my ears are tuned into the feel rather than the tech aspect. There is a lot of white noise in the stereo version anyways, so it really doesn't matter.

I actually had to wean myself off Love You in order to be able to listen to lesser recordings! Sounds crazy but it's true.
That is not crazy at all- you're among Friends. I learned so much from this album- artistically, spiritually, and how to live in reality...really.

3 or 4 whiners on this board are the only ones that feel the need to drag it down
I disagree- this is a BB's message board named after Smiley Smile- it is a place for refuge and discussion among like minded people. We have a unique taste in music. Speaking on behalf of myself, I feel no need to drag it or anything down, just the need to discuss and vent amongst comrades- whether we agree or not. It's not like my co-workers have any clue what I talk about if I mention anything BB related. Dudes take things waaayyyyy to seriously on a BB message board. If something someone wrote is bothering you, then don't reply!! It's easy!! How many people get worked up for nothing! Need I bring up Phil Cohen? At least if I complain about the price of MIC, that is something to me- my $$, and my all-time favorite music/art. Purchasing this set Aug 27th or waiting it out is quite the conundrum and it is apparent that feeling is shared among many super fans here. No one is making anyone respond or even disuss these things. If it bothers someone then don't discuss it. It's simple. Just don't feel upset if people came to the SMILEY SMILE MB to vent about something they care deeply about.

I believe strongly in HSA's and using insurance only for major emergencies- I don't use my car insurance to pay for my oil change. I have an HSA and I really love it. I just cut my hand and am able to use that money to pay for the costs. Insurance companies, medicaid/care, and lawsuits all jack up the price of health care- not that health care has become a "commodity". I would rather have choice and freedom than gov't provided care. WHY DO PEOPLE WANT TO TAKE THAT AWAY FROM ME AND TELL ME TO JUST TAKE THE SINGLE PAYER PLAN AND SHUT UP?? I live and work with these people- That is a real danger, Pinder. That's not cool. I believe strongly in leaving health care policies to the states. I may not like it, but constitutionally this make more sense....and cents. Doesn't medicaid cover the "poorest of citizens"? We don't have a health care problem , we have a health care cost problem. The reality that the costs are inflated way too high. It is not uncommon for people to compare the USA health care to other western countries- a debate I am always prepared for. I find comparing, say, the health care of Sweden, to the USA- Sweden has a population only slightly larger than NYC, to be misguided. Many times when I debate the health care thing people mention countries like Denmark, or France, or England, and I have to remind them that these countries are much smaller than the USA, and often smaller than many states. At the end of the day, if I need a catscan I would much rather be in the USA than in any other country in the world- period.
I will get into this more at another time- however, that premise you gave about planned parenthood is wrong, IMO. Planned Parenthood isn't about condoms, it's about abortions- the quotas they have to fill and the ways they spend our tax money- not on condoms but all the bs that I'm well enough prepared to get into. I don't know why any tax dollars go to fund abortions outside of extreme situations, period. I'm an adopted child and am so thankful that my mother didn't abort me. How many European countries that advocates of single payer love to mention have banned or severely limited abortions after the 1st tri-mester? .. btw, WHAT DID WE DO BEFORE PP? WE GOT BY SOMEHOW< RIGHT? Goodness gracious, WHERE DOES IT END WITH WHERE OUR MONEY IS TAKEN FROM US!!! ANSWER THAT!! Where are your ideas?

Pinder- that is well said- where I come in is this:
In large part I can chose which businesses I would like to support- however I cannot chose how much taxes I HAVE to pay. I think the health care law in particular creates a terrible HORRIBLE precedent with untold ramifications down the road by telling American citizens BY LAW THEY HAVE TO PURCHASE SOMETHING- in this case Health Insurance. I don't like where that is headed, and if it was up to me anyone who voted for that law should be arrested for treason. That is not hyperbole. I mean that wholeheartedly- the same goes for the S.C. justices that upheld the law.
If we really want to get into it, we should start a "Monsanto non- appreciation" thread.

In today's economic climate, it might not be as enticing for JOHN Q. PUBIC to drop that kind of dinero on BB material---- only the wackos like me who will be losing sleep, starting a lemonade stand, and having people pay me not to sing, who will be considering to drop this kind of cash down.
These ears are not virgin to those amazing songs the way they were at one time.... but they ain't never heard the possible extra verses to Meant For You, a capella TWW, or WIBNTLA either. These are the moments that I live for. Even as obsessive as so many of us are, isn't it amazing how we are having second thoughts because of certain financial demands...

I love all those early tunes- I don't put them on that often, but when I do I can't stop listening. Brian may not have been aware of the metaphors, but the songs would become more poetic with the passing of time...especially looking back at how the 60's began, and then how they ended. There is an optimism in those songs that I really resonate with.

^Same here.
After years of deliberation I decided the mono is the one for me- listen to IJWMFTT at .05 seconds in on mono and you hear a strange organ wash type sound... it is nowhere to be found on stereo...the bass sucks on LGAFA, obviously BW's double tracked vocal is missing on YSBIM, and all the background chatter adds to the feel of the music IMO... All well, not to derail this thread, I will say- Dennis' vocal kinda sucks on In the Back of My Mind, and Brian's decision to have him sing the lead to that is worse...imagine the possibilities of the harmonies over the bridge section, a Carl lead vocal, the guys trading off parts...such a great song and a blah kinda vocal line...
