1  Smiley Smile Stuff / Welcome to the Smiley Smile board / Smiley smile as app?... on: January 05, 2020, 02:07:34 AM
Iím sure itís not possible but I usually use the Internet on my phone. I find using smiley smile through Safari a pain to be honest. I donít suppose there is an app that allows me to use the features in a more iPhone friendly way? Iím pretty sure there isnít but thought Iíd ask :-)

Happy 20/20 everyone 😁

Is this the compound where Mike was slathering himself with hot oil on Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous?
That video has sadly (?) been taken down from Youtube, so no way to reference it.

Naaa. That was Hawaii.

I adore this album. I'd love to see a making of behind the scenes video. Brian at that time working with a full on orchestra?! I wonder if any stuff would've been in Landy's vaults?

I'm interested in ANYTHING from this period, outtakes etc.....

I concur with the opinion of greatness. I didn't take to it on the first couple of listens but it's seriously become one of my favs. I also love all the spoken words stuff as well which sometimes gets a slating...
13  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson 2016 Tour Thread (Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary Tour) on: May 26, 2016, 05:13:42 AM
yeah well, the guy is 74, nearly 75. that alone. give him a break, let alone everything else he has had to deal with.
how many 74/75 year old's tour the world delivering magic these days?
be kind guys.

I agree. The main thing that stood out to me in the m&g was how frail Brian is. It was like seeing your grandad. Then he comes out on stage and treats us to THAT show. Wow, if I can rock half as hard at him at 60 I'll be delighted!!!!

I have to say: I thought Blondie rocked Wild Honey in Manchester.

Well....that was a bit awesome.

I've got loads of pictures and video and such (including Honkin' full song). Did the meet and greet, sound check, met cool people but the gig, oh that was the highlight. Oof! Back of the net!

Will you share the video of Honkin'?  Wink

Certainly Sir.... https://youtu.be/e5GkKLqmleg

I bought the VIP meet and greet package for the Manchester show last night. I didn't really know what to expect. There were about 35 of us and we were ushered into the hall to see the soundcheck which was great. It was like a mini concert. Lots of stage banter going on between Brian and Al and they were asking audience if sound was ok etc. Then the people who just had the soundcheck package were asked to leave. It was just one person though and he said rather meekly "just me then ?" and left. Then we queued up for the meet and greet. Brian, Al and Blondie were at the table. We had to hand our stuff to sign over to someone else then we were each asked to stand behind the table for the photo which were taken with our own cameras, phones. I asked Al to personalise my autograph which he did but then Brian instructed me to stand behind the table for the photo. After the photo was taken I got my chance for a handshake off all three then I stood near to the table to see the rest of the people go through the meet and greet. There was hardly any conversation at all apart from Brian bursting into a rendition of "Honking Down The Highway" whilst pointing at my friend ! One thing I did notice was Brian kept saying to his security "how many more ?" then rather hurridly departed after the last meet and greet. It was worth every penny though to meet these musical legends.

Hey man, welcome to SS. I was in the M&G too, felt very much the same. I wouldn't have swapped it back for the cash given the opportunity but I also don't think I'd be doing it again. I probably rambled at you at some point...I was the guy in the Love You T-Shirt

TODAY IS THE DAY!  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

My meet and greet with the big man and chance to watch him live for the first time. Excited is not the word! Watching the clock tick, tick, tick so bloody slowly!

So anyone else on here doing the meet n greet? I don't think I'll be leaving the venue before the gig to join others in the pub but more than happy for general chat pre and break in the venue. I'll be the excited looking one in a 'Love You' T-shirt Cheesy

I take it you are referring to the Manchester gig? I'll be there, but not for the m&g. What pub is everyone meeting?

Think we're all going to an Irish pub that's bang next to the venue. Come join!!

That clip of Brian and Van Dyke at the piano playing/singing Orange Crate Art is one of my favourite things. I'd have liked to have heard the whole album played like that.

In life - sometimes something becomes a mission for you and this is one of mine: I want the WHOLE DAMN SONG! - In the film it is clearly just a segment and it is 99% likely that the whole thing was filmed which means (even it's just on DW's raw footage) a whole audio of OCA played like that exists. I MUST HAVE IT!

Does anyone have a direct line to DW or any leads or ideas on how to achieve my goal. Trust me, fellow SS's, I will deliver this song to you....somehow.....
22  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Any book recommendations? on: May 24, 2016, 02:28:10 AM
The Wilson Project is a great book if you can find it at a palatable price...

Also, if you join Audible (audio book website) you get a free download just for registering. Catch a Wave and 50 Sides of the Beach Boys are on there and great for listening to in the car, you get to keep the downloads for life when you quit Audible as well.

24  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / General Music Discussion / Re: Top 10 Hip-Hop Albums on: May 17, 2016, 01:17:12 PM
Kanye West - The College Dropout
Flobots - Fight with Tools
Jurassic 5 - Quality Control
Lupe Fiasco - The Cool
Plan B - Who needs actions when you've got words
Rhymefest - Blue Collar
Scroobious Pip - Distraction Pieces
Stanley Odd - Oddio (tough to choose which one of theirs to be fair)
Eminem - Marshall Mathers LP
Dizzee Rascal - Boy in da corner (grime technically, I suppose...)

Some of those wouldn't have got in if I could have multiple albums from same artists - Late Registration, Platypus, Food & Liquor, Time for Plan B, Reject, Angles, Slim Shady LP...all would've probably got in....

25  Smiley Smile Stuff / The Beach Boys Media / Re: Help witch Beach Boys tattoo on: May 17, 2016, 01:01:38 PM
Not that I'm attempting to hijack this thread or anything.....

I am also wanting a beach boys tattoo - I've been very impressed by the stained glass bee of another member and may be a copy cat but I'd rather have something original. My favourite most influential favourite album is Love You - the tapestry cover is tempting but not sure how it would work as a tattoo.

Ideas please people! - A moog? A roller skating child? An airplane flying over dots?

 Lets hear your thoughts....

I wouldn't be afraid of using someone else's ideas. Again, having looked a zillion tattoos over recent weeks, most any idea you think of has probably already been done, unless you start getting really weird (Brian smoking a corn cob pipe, wearing a hazmat suit, driving a bulldozer down the 405).

That's the one! That's the tat for me!  LOL LOL LOL
