Well, probably not to happy. So because I want to do something the laws should be bent to accommodate me? You disagree with a point and have to add name calling as well. Sad.
I only added "champ" to emphasize the point that I think you were in the minority opinion on this one, I did not mean to personally insult you. Sorry. As for your point of having the laws bent to accommodate you/me, I guess we have to agree to disagree with that. I will ask, do you at least sympathize/empathize with the young lady in the article?

Strange note: This is the first time any of the GiOMH tracks or the Live at the Roxy tracks appeared on Spotify... Just checked it out today. It's fine I guess, for a comp. Wish it included some deeper Brian cuts like What I Really Want for Christmas, Nothin' But Love, and basically more from NPP or Gershwin... I like the Brian picture on the cover though and the tracks sound great. Some Sweet Day and Run James Run are a nice bone for us fans. Wish those Paley Sessions would get a box set...

Geez there is a lot of mixed reactions to the Paley material. Frankly, I think the production is some of the best of Brian's solo career. It's much easier to listen to than the weirdness of the GiOMH remakes. When Soul Searchin' and You're Still a Mystery came out on Made in California, the vocals sounded too plain. The harmonies added on Soul Searchin' as well as the added embellishments to the busy production also made the song sound a bit hokey, compared to the original boot. It is a real privilege to hear Some Sweet Day in its original form. The vocals aren't the greatest he's done, but they are heartfelt to me, the remade Paley vocal tracks sound robotic and without depth, it doesn't sound as spontaneous as the sessions allegedly were. I would like to see a whole album of the original Paley stuff released some day...

Ehh I think 15 Big Ones is a guilty pleasure of mine, I enjoy Brian cutting loose and recording barebones covers. But the Pet Sounds pizazz is concerning. Something to think about, remember the rumors going around, in past interviews he has hinted at the album title: Sensitive Music for Sensitive People, and Pleasure Island: A Rock and Roll Fantasy (I think). Whether these two projects are one and the same remains to be seen.

I think Brian wasn't comfortable having Carl's vocal on Waves of Love. That's my two cents. Brian's getting older, so I'm not harping on his physical condition, he seems to enjoy being on the road, even with his bad back, so that's good for him. At least he isn't horribly depressed, smoking, or overeating anymore. At this point, that's pretty much the best case scenario here.

This Brian interview was interesting. However, it does make me very sad that he won't be singing with Mike or Bruce or even David in the foreseeable future. Their voices create a vocal texture that just isn't quite there with Brian's band. I love Brian's band, saw them perform Pet Sounds last summer, but their voices don't blend as well together as the Beach Boys do. To not hear the Beach Boys voices in any future recordings would be a heartbreaking tragedy. It is also very sad that Brian hasn't talked to Mike in five years. I know Mike has done some really awful things in the public eye, I'm not opening that can of worms, but it is sad to me that their kinship (being cousins and a part of the family) has collapsed. Their situations seem like a big divorce at this point, which is always a very sad situation to be involved in. I don't think the coinciding releases of their respective biographies doesn't help and ignites sour feelings. I guess as a fan, I wish they would patch things up with each other and at least be amicable, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen now. Once again, seeing the realization that the Beach Boys as we know them today might never record together again as a functioning unit is a heartbreaking tragedy in my world and in the musical world.

I'd pay a fortune for a whole huge package filled with videos, live performances, interviews, and of course, songs. Maybe also have a giant picture booklet with images throughout the band's career, everything would be presented in chronological order in accordance to year. Perhaps some writings by the members about their perspective on life, love, and music. Instead of the little snippets we fans get each year due to copyright laws expiring, something this big could get a lot of people interested...
The Beatles, with their gigantic posture did it, why can't America's band, loved and cherished by many, pull themselves together and do something like this?

I think there should be a Brian is Back box set. Including 15 Big Ones/Love You albums and sessions. As well as unreleased material from that period. As well as an official release of Adult Child. Include maybe a DVD of highlights of Brian on the road and interviews from 76-78ish. I don't know if there would be any money in something like this, but I would pay $100 for it!
Added they should throw in a restoration of Brian is Back, and some of the live performances from the era. I would also pay $100 for it if not more...

I don't believe I've logged onto this message board in literally over ten years...
and I've come all the way back so I could find this thread and ask if anyone else is bothered that the piano in this stereo mix doesn't fade for the last measure of the intro like it does in the mono mix.
I'll post again in 2028. Be good, everyone; glad you're all well.
Please, come back whenever the urge to post arises! It is definitely jarring that the instruments in the stereo intro don't fade out, leaving the horn and the organ to finish it off. I liked how the horn carried on by itself, it was a good mixing choice.
