I understand her. She's had a rough couple of years lately, losing her home and so on... And as she probably DID play on some sessions for the song, it's no wonder she thinks she's on the record. Now, it's no wonder she doesn't want to lose that glory, not after so many years.
And, I've said this before, you guys should just leave her be. The historians know the score, that's enough for me.
She sure does have a foul mouth/fingers, though. It's nice to know that being a jerk on the internet is not exclusively for young and middle-aged people.

Okay, my stories: in 2012, I was in Berlin to see the Boys. A friend of mine had a nice room in some fancy hotel downtown, but on the last minute I decided to book a dorm bed in a cheap hostel, to save some money... The next day, my friend told me that the Beach Boys had been staying in the same hotel as she, and they had been meeting fans and signing stuff in the lobby. So I almost met Brian!
While I was in L. A. last year I went to the deli where Brian frequents. I've never drank a cup of coffee so slowly... I wasn't stalking or anything, but hey, if hey would have happened to come there, it would have been something! Alas, he didn't show up.
That same evening I went to Bellagio 10452. The gates were closed, but I parked my car outside, took out my harmonica and recorded some noodling on my iPhone, just to be able to say I have recorded at Bellagio 10452! My beautiful improvisation was interrupted when the gate started to open and some big guy started to walk towards me. That's when I decided the session is over and I split. So there, try to beat that, storytellers!

someone here pointed out once how basic the arrangement for 'Do It Again' is, compared to what Brian was truly capable of. it's not surprising that he may have "switched to auto pilot" on some things as the years went on.
Yeah, but the whole song is basically just one chord... I qgree, there's nothing that flashy going on, but the arrangement is very effective in it's simplicity. Verses building that tension, waiting for the fun - and then the chorus arrives and they'te doing it again, hey now! But hey, the "rock with me Henry" -version of Wonderful doesn't really work, does it? No wonder he scrapped it.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Brian's worst vocal arrangement

Do you think Brian has ever failed when working his harmony magic? Can you think of any Beach Boys or solo songs on which his vocal arrangements sound poorly constructed or not properly thought out?
Me, I can't think of any.
EDIT: Of course, I can think of many cases where those arrangements are performed in a less-than-stellar fashion, but even in those cases the actual arrangement is often pretty damn clever.

Wish to hell I could recall which UK rock mag it was, maybe ten years ago or thereabouts, but Brian was being asked about Dennis and his music. I paraphrase, of course, but his reply went something like: "Well, he was a real man, he had intercourse with many women - Mike's wife, Al's wife, my wife..." And yes, he said "intercourse", not "sex". Q magazine, Cash for questions, around BWPS! I remenber that. I already knew about the legend of Brian Wilson and the fact that he's not like everybody, but wasn't a fan yet, but after reading that I remember thinking he sure is something else. Nothing wrong with little intercourse every now and then, btw. Can't blame Dennis.
