i'm baaaaaaack!
Lovely. Who are you, and when and why were you gone?
Luther, i'm the guy that turned a blind eye into the sky, then flew back down...
cursed the concrete, and hit the street, pounded out a 4/4 beat.

i was thusly exiled when i had crushed a smile back in 2005.

Now i'm reborn again. Living in the Pac-northwest. I promise to be good.

I always hoped that these two songs (that is, the Beach Boys version of "Soul Searchin'") would see some sort of official release.  C'mon, those on the "inside"...make it so!
These two are indeed the Last Gasp, denny talked about. Awesome truely.

I would like to hear Brian cover Kurt Cobain's home demo entitled "Clean Up Before She Comes" done in Smiley Smile style.

the version of 'ol man river' on the 2001 release is different from the 1990 release of the twofer.  it's pretty obvious actually.  i prefer the 1990 version, to be honest.  i like the modulation back down to the original key as opposed to the bass-piano-guitar abrupt stop...  still, i like them both actually!

tank you vedy much...i know i'm not kwazy now!!!!

15  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: BW- master of the fade out? on: February 28, 2007, 10:12:48 PM
the fade on all i want to do isnt as risque as everyone says...

i think the fade on GV, it always sounds lowder on the radio, but when i listen to it on cd, it sounds like im missing something
the fadeout on all i wanna do '70 enchants me; there must be like 3 or 4 counter-melodies on that one &
i wish i could understand what Carl (i know its his voice!!) is singing in there, without me having any chemical enhancements!!!!

This reminds me people...that wicked "yeeehehee" during the tag-fade of Vegetables from
SmileySmile ALWAYS never ceases to freak me out an give me willies!!!

anyone hear what i mean???
17  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: BW- master of the fade out? on: February 27, 2007, 09:15:43 PM
Brian was totally the master of fades.  In addition to everything others have mentioned so far, I'd like to add "A Day In the Life of a Tree", "She Knows Me Too Well" and of course "Caroline, No".  Lots of others I can't think of I'm sure...but Brian certainly made fades an art unto themselves.

The tag to "God Only Knows" could go on forever for all I care, and I'd love every second of it.
that said...the fadeout of "Forever"
18  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: BW- master of the fade out? on: February 27, 2007, 08:15:35 PM
BW was the master of the fade! "Fun, Fun, Fun" (single version), "I Get Around", "Little Saint Nick", "Be True To Your School", and "Wendy" are a few of my favorite early period ones.

Mid/later favorites are "Cabinessence", "Til I Die", "Surf's Up", "Matchpoint" (I had to throw that one in there), and "I'll Bet He's Nice".

Oddly, for a "later" album, Love You has a couple of non-fades, including "Roller Skating Child", "I Wanna Pick You Up", and "Let's Put Our Hearts Together".

Not to start any controversy, but the main thing I don't like about BWPS (and there are many) is that they eliminated some of Brian's great all-time fades and strung those songs together. It just destroys the atmosphere, the feel. It doesn't do the songs complete justice. They deserved better...
yet one more reason not to favor smile'04 over smile66-7. in my opinion
19  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: WIRWFC Songs In the A/C Charts on: February 27, 2007, 12:18:13 PM
Yeah, itīs not Brianīs fault that record-buyers donīt want music anymore, they want young blond girls with big breats. Sad, but true.
hey, theres nothing wrong with young blondes & big breasts..and didnt the beach boys sell alot of records exploiting that fascination??

Another song that comes to mind as not having a fade is California Saga-California (as well as the other two parts, of course!)

Favorite fades?  I like the extended fades on Surfin' Safari and Little Deuce Coupe on the boxed set.  Now that I think about it, though SS doesn't really fade on the boxed set...it has an ending.

But all-time favorite?  All This Is That.
yeah....i agree wit all thiss is that, i've spent countless time just rewinding that to hear at full volume!!!!!

bri's fades really haunt me also, the fade to i can hear music haunts me too.

Is the merit of someone's opinion based on whether he's a pansy or wuss? Just wondering.

Did Dennis ever criticize Brian openly?

Other than Mike Love, has ANYONE ever criticized Brian openly?

Edit: I just thought of one - Tony Asher - with the "genius musician, amateur human being" quote...

Brandon Flowers pretty much said.

'I would never do drugs, take Brian Wilson for example, so what if he created Good Vibrations, the guy talks to himself'.

Wat??? screw Wayland flowers that f'n pansy!!!!

And i live in Vegas...nobody likes them here...Somebody tell them!!! im ashamed they're from Nevada!!ha ha
