Gday Alan, a few guys are gonna meet at laikas taps bar which is at 9 Fitzroy street at 4.30pm. If you feel lost come on down, I'm trying to get to there myself.
Yes, there's a casual meet up at Laika's in Fitzroy St at 4.30. There'll be an area set aside under my surname ( Dowsett ) for anyone interested. I'll be at the meet & greet from 3.30 but still hoping to be there at some point for a quick 1 o 2. For anyone that knows Joy and Jay from Perth, they'll be there, as well as a couple of others.

Regarding the meet and greet package, I've bought one for April 3 in Melbourne, but noticing there was no mention of a photo with the worldwide package as opposed the the U.S packages, I emailed the local promoter. They responded today by saying they'd been in touch with Brian's management about it and management has said it will depend on Brian on the given evening. So the photo opportunity may be hit and miss.
Interesting that Brian has a say in the non-US packages, but they say a picture IS included in the US packages. With no picture, what do you do at a meet & greet? Seems strange to me, but that's the explanation I got by his management through the promoter . I guess I'll wait and see

She was living in Melbourne for the last last 5 or 6 months but is back home in Canada I believe. Her Facebook page shows her travels of "My life in Melbourne"
There's life in Melbourne? Who would have thunk it? Them fighting words Tony ! The only thing your city can claim over mine is the bragging rights to being the home of "the professor." Any town or city would be richer for the pleasure.

I remember before the BW w/ Jeff Beck tour, I read an interview with one of BW's band members. He said that they wouldn't be playing Surf's Up. He said it was a hard song for Brian to sing.
So with the song being too hard for Brian to sing and (I'm just guessing) Mike wasn't pushing to get the song in the setlist, the idea of performing Surf's Up was probably short lived to nonexistent.
After a C50 gig, myself and a few others were having a beer in a pub with Nelson and Probyn. Someone asked Nelson why SU hadn't been played and his response was that it was now too difficult for Brian to sing. He also said something along the lines of no one else being able to sing it and were conscious not to give too many leads to non principles. Words to that effect anyway. It was 2.00 in the morning and a belly full of beer, but he definitely said Brian could no longer do it

I don't have a link so apologies as I was reading the paper at the pub, but there was an article about Jeff Beck and his upcoming Oz tour in Melbourne's Sunday Herald Sun. A few paragraphs were dedicated to last years tour and upcoming album with Brian. I may have misread but he seemed to say that the tour, although met with acclaim, wasn't a particularly enjoyable experience, due mainly to it being quickly organised and that it felt like 2 separate shows within the concert. About the new album, and again I may be misquoting, but it read as the new BW album being a double album. The first one titled Brian Wilson, the 2nd titled Brian Wilson and Friends. Beck says he will be playing on 3 cuts but is yet to complete work on it. Hope someone can find a link because I've had no luck.

I posted this on another thread a few weeks ago but thought it was kind of relevant. I'm proud of it and show it off with pride That's really well done. Congrats on having that. I'd say that validates you as being a legit fan for life! Thanks !! I wasn't going to get the script because we all know what reaction we're met with when we say who our favorite band is, but I'm proud to be a fan so I thought f**k it. I like that script and think it looks so cool with the logo

End of the Trail would be cool to have on the other arm I've got a love heart with the wife's name in it on the other arm. Trouble is, she became ex-wife 5 months ago. Moral of the story, don't get a tattoo of a chicks name. It's bound to end in disaster ! Tattooist are pretty talented these days. I'm sure they could work their magic and cover it with something BB related

If I was going to get a Beach Boys Tattoo, which one would be the best one to get? I'm not keen on using the Brother Records logo as it's too American Indian.
Can't help you with what to get but I recently got a tattoo of the Brother Records logo with The Beach Boys script writing of the early 70's above it. Also added a blazing sun behind the Indian. Got it on my upper left arm. I love it !!! If I knew how to post photos from my phone I'd put it up.( I've tried but I think the file is too big) Someone more tech savvy than me will have to help because I do want to show it off.

I thought of starting a similar thread relating to the powers that be, fan/board pressure and hearing Rio Grande live before Brian hangs up his keyboard but didn't think it warranted it's own thread. So if anyone is reading, don't care when or where, I think many of us would love to here it (and see it thanks to YouTube) just once before Brian and band pack up and walk off into the sunset.

Am I the only one that doesn't like Don't Talk ?
damn you must be crazy. one of the best love songs ever written A lot of people on this board will be saying Moz from Oz is crazy. Well they've been sayin' that for years. Ain't nothin' new about that. (Sorry, just watched the Mike Love Hall of Fame speech earlier today) But seriously, I'm all for a love song, this one just doesn't do it for me I'm afraid
