Hey Jon! Just read the book and it's really great, you must be proud of it! I noticed the Glee Love mistake but as I knew she was a Wilson it didn't really bother me. Can't wait for the Real Beach Boy book to come back into print now

The drums at the beginning are really weird. The first several lines sound like a sample of the original treated drums, but when Mike comes in, they add a weird extra snare hit on the '3' that sounds right out of Garageband or something. Then after the first lines Cowsill finally comes in and it starts sounding like normal drums.
Noticed that too. And it's crazy distracting. That was definitley not in the original video that was leaked very briefly a few months ago. The first hit of the snare in that video came right when Mike starts singing. Sounds like they definitely added it in post. Not sure why they inserted it in such an awkward timing as they did. The hit on the 3? Nah I just watched the video that leaked a few months back and it's on that too. I never noticed it until someone pointed it out and now I can't help but concentrate on it.

It says more dates to be added on Brian's website.
Yeah, Brian's facebook account also just said that in a comment. I'm less panicky now. I've lost pretty much all hope for a Scottish date now though. Fingers crossed for London and it'll be the overnight bus journey down there from Edinburgh again!

You can really hear Al in the background vocals.
You really can! He stands out on the ooh bap bap parts, you can even pick out Brian on those parts clearly in the descending chorus at the end. Those middle harmonies haven't sounded like that for years, it was nice to hear it more raspy!

Yeah but it takes a lot of courage to get back with your old band on a big stage like that, I thought Brian was great. Sure his mic was down a bit but he was still going for it I thought, nice that Bruce was helping out aswell as Jeff on the verses too. Maroon 5 and Foster the People were a letdown though, the BB's could have handled that whole slot better on their own.

Not really famous outside of Scotland but Greg Hemphill is a popular comic actor here (starred in a sitcom called Still Game) and he was at the Brian Wilson concert in Glasgow last year, he tweeted a few jokes about taxi drivers making Charles Manson comments on the way to the gig. Also Iain Lee, a presenter and disc jockey in Britain, I know he's quite a big fan. He done an interview with Brian last year actually which was pretty decent, he got right into talking about Marcella if I remember correctly

filledeplage: my comment was meant a little sarcastic. I'm sure David did more than we can see in this video. But still there's some truth in it and there's no excuse to let Stamos sing that song instead of David imo. I mean Stamos is the guy who did produce (?) An American Family !!
David didn't sing Forever. Stamos didn't sing Forever. David was involved with the band for a year. Stamos has been involved with the band for 20 years. Yes but look at the albums David appeared on during that time, he's 50% of that original guitar sound and was a friend of Dennis from way back when in Hawthorne. Contrast that with Stamos who has achieved little or nothing in all the twenty odd years he's been hanging around the periphery of the band.

Jay, Mike Kawalski. And I saw all those guys play and would love to see then on stage again, but it's not to be. Carter and Kawalski played with them since '68 - probably the longest of all the supporting musicians. Hinsche put in quite a bit of time with them - 20 plus years. Kowalski faded pretty bad at the end - his timing was off at times and he stayed a little longer than.........well, those guys were in surf bands before The Beach Boys too. They know the Beach Boys music very well. You know I'm kiddin', Jimmy! You da man. What happened to Mike Kawalski? I mean, does he have health problems that affect his playing? Or is it just general old age wearing him down? Hmm...that might have come out sounding a little meaner than I intended. If you ever saw - or heard - him at the early 2000s shows, you'd understand why he had to go. In London in 2004, he lost the beat halfway through the first song. Which was "Do It Again", as straight a 4-4 as you can get. Oh, and it's Kowalski. His drumming was equally poor at the 2004 Glasgow gig. It's Mike drumming at Live Aid too isn't it? That was kinda static sounding I think, they're better off with Cowsill these days.
