I don't know the answer to the post 1987 question regarding the performances of heaven and Carls solo songs but I can not recall ever hearing either that one or any of the others after 1987 live and I've seen them a lot up to till Carl's passing

I thought Carl singing Heaven and dedicating it to Dennis, was the high point of the show to me...but yes, other than that and Ray Charles, lots of down moments...especially the whole Piscopo thing.

29  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Anybody went to a Beach Boys (Mike and Bruce) concert recently? Your opinion? on: April 06, 2022, 03:35:37 AM
The last time I saw the Beach Boys was Carl Wilson's last show back in 1997. I haven't seen them live since. I have followed them on YouTube though very closely including the most recent versions from 2022 and 2021. In my opinion they do not sound good. I think Christian loves vocals are bad. He sounds nothing like Carl Wilson to me, not that anyone could. But Mike and Bruce keep saying he does sound like Carl he sounds nothing like Carl to me, his vocals are weak on backgrounds and leads. Mike seems okay. Just totally unimpressed with the current version of The Beach Boys live show and have been for many years

There was another updated video a couple of days ago where Jeff sang a couple of lines to a song on stage. Not classic Jeffrey of course, but it was good to hear him even attempt to sing again first time in 3 years he said. All the best Jeff

Sorry but I have to disagree. I haven't been to a concert but have watched several on YouTube including the most recent Beach Boys Cruise from March of 2022. That concert in my opinion was awful. Listen to Christian love I'm sorry but he sounds terrible and it's insulting to say he's covering Carl's leads and vocal Parts. Frankly he's extremely weak.

Stay well Jeff, your voice has not been silenced!

I had almost forgotten about the Piscopo appearances at his born in the u.s.a. parody which was atrocious. The only thing that made me forget that was all the bad lip syncing that was going on voice wise and instrument wise. This was such a sad 25th Anniversary Special

Boy at this stage of the game I hate to see this. I always thought Brian in Maryland had a pretty good amicable divorce and after divorce relationship. Maybe they do but certainly this isn't going to help it

I saw this article last week and one of the local papers. I was glad to hear Jeff is doing well but I was also sad. He has such a great voice. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of listening to his solo CDs search them out and listen to them. They're just so tremendous, through my window, cool and gone and so many others are just great great CDs. I miss his voice

Thanks for the videos, would have loved to seen their version of Impulsive, and Rhonda with Richie on Sax. Videos I saw and from what I've heard they sound great. Wish they had added some more shows.

I see that Ritchie Cannatta showed up for the Long Island show, don't know if it was for a song or 2 or the whole show though. Would love to see Richie playing the Sax solo on Rhonda, looked liked they were rehearsing taht one from the IG clip I saw.

Emdeeh, I agree. I also like that shows aren't nearly as bloated as some shows from the past. This almost sounds a bit unplugged, and focused on the vocals. I like it alot!

Re the meat and potatoes list, thats a bit disappointing since  Even though attendance and ticket sales are fairly low most of the people in attendance I think are hardcore fans who probably would prefer a deeper cut set list. Oh well at least they sound great.

Interesting, find it strange that Wendy would you leave vocals on Sail on Sailor when Bobby is there and does a killer version of it. Maybe she only sang part of the song. Would love to see some of these videos wish they were posted somewhere

A buddy of mine was planning to go to the Patchogue NY show, but when he went to the site to purchase tix he said it looked like maybe only 100 had been sold. So rather than go thru the possibility fo cancellation and refund he decided to pass. So sad, such a great sounding band, I hope at least a few of these shows make it onto the scheduled performance.

That's Eddie Carter on bass and Debbie Shair  from Brian's band. I just saw that the Miramar Florida show has been cancelled as well. This is such a shame there are only a limited number of shows anyway and already three of them canceled including one I was planning to attend in Philadelphia area. Great band Great Sound I guess difficult to get a market.

I'll take Al every time, plus I'm not a huge fan of the Ostrige!

Sadly I guess there's just no market for an Al Jardine and friends show. Certainly not one that's going to fill a few hundred seats. Here in New Jersey though it would be interesting we have a couple of theaters in the Red Bank area called the Vogel and the two rivers theater that seats somewhere around 200 to 300 people. That's the type of venue Al would need to perform in but my guess is that's not going to pay the bills. So sad

I just saw that Als show at the Keswick theater in Glenside Pennsylvania has been canceled. I know ticket sales were light I don't even think they sold 300 but still this is so disappointing I was planning on attending it was less than an hours drive from my home.  Damn!

I thought Rob was in the band too especially since his connections with Wilson Phillips and of course Carnie  he still may show up there

Not sure about who's in the backing band but I wonder if Billy was planning to be? I believe he was as musical director went out toward a few years ago.
