How about movie shots? This is from "Cactus Flower", 1969, Walter Matthau and Goldie Hawn. Goldie works in a record shop...

Look just over Matthau's right shoulder at the back wall display for a familiar cover:

There are several more (and closer) shots of that cover in other scenes in the record shop, that's how I spotted it originally in the film. Neat movie BTW, a cool time capsule too.

Seems like Best Of Vol. 3 is also there too.

This 2-LP SMiLE bootleg was released in 1990, it is listed on a music magazine from October 1990.

Also be sure to visit http://beachboyslegacy.com for a complete list of all Beach Boys and Solo Bootlegs (and many more CD/LPs), including the SMiLE ones too  Cool

We just launched a Bootleg section on beachboyslegacy.com. We've tried to build the most complete list of Beach Boys and solo Bootlegs to date.
Factory pressed CDs and vinyls only. No fan mixes, mp3 collections, etc.
Let us know what you think. If you want to contribute with ideas, corrections or better cover scans, please get in touch. This was months of work and it is not finished yet because we are trying to include filters to make the discoverability easier.
Obviously, the list is for reference only.

Check the Bootlegs category and enjoy!!

Our website keeps growing. We recently published a 'Various Artists' album category. And we just added social ratings to all the albums and books, as many of you have requested. We would like to have as many Beach Boys fans as possible to rate the albums they've listened to and the books they've read.

Enjoy!

Several 'Night At The Proms' clips up on you tube. Was this Germany late last year?

Thank you!

Even after trying a couple of minutes, I couldn't find out from which show it comes. It's from a bavarian TV station so I'd guess Munich, but I couldn't find pictures with matching clothes. Here are the dates of the tour:

01.12. Frankfurt, Festhalle
02.12. Frankfurt, Festhalle
03.12. Hannover, TUI Arena
04.12. Hamburg, Barclaycard Arena
05.12. Hamburg, Barclaycard Arena
06.12. Bremen, ÖVB-Arena
08.12. Berlin, Mercedes-Benz Arena
09.12. Erfurt, Messehalle
11.12. München, Olympiahalle                                (Munich)
12.12. München, Olympiahalle
13.12. München, Olympiahalle
15.15. Stuttgart, Hanns-Martin-Schleyer-Halle
16.12. Mannheim, SAP Arena
17.12. Dortmund, Westfalenhalle 1
18.12. Köln, LANXESS arena                                    (Cologne)
19.12. Köln, LANXESS arena
20.12. Oberhausen, König-Pilsener-ARENA

So until we have the correct date I will add it for Dec. 2015

12.12. München, Olympiahalle

Twp different shows. I believe the top photo is from the L.A. Sports Arena and  the bottom from the SF Cow Palace. There is no evidence the 6 ever payed together. If Brian stayed home then Al filled in, if Brian was there Al stayed home ... this was the routine until David left in Oct. '63. Rocker this personnel chronology and info is fairly detailed in the Beach Boys In Concert book.

Jon, they played three times at the LA Sports Arena in 1963. Do you know the exact date? Thanks.

Feb. 16 - KFWB Charity Show, Los Angeles Sport Arena, Los Angeles CA
May 24 - Los Angeles Custom Car & Boat Show, LA Sports Arena, Los Angeles CA
Aug. 31 - Show of Stars, Los Angeles Sports Arena, Los  Angeles CA

This is my review of the Valencia concert and setlist:

The venue was a small club in Valencia called 16 Toneladas (16 Tons). I was out on the street with a few people waiting for the doors to open, and suddenly David appeared with the rest of band approaching us sayin' "Hola!" and shaking hands with everybody. He was very animated and that's when I took the opportunity to get my CDs signed and a picture with him.

The show started late at 1:15 a.m. and sounded great instrumentally but not vocally, given that the backing band members are not professional singers. Anyway, it was cool to see David as the leader of a band, very different than when he performs with Brian or The Beach Boys.

They played the new album in its entirety and it is interesting to note that all the songs not on the album appeared on Beach Boys albums.

Here is the setlist:

Surfin' Safari
Hawaii
Kustom Kar Show
Louie Louie
Let's Go Trippin'
Food Fair
Stoked
409
Little Deuce Coupe
Cruisin'
Shut Down
Honky Tonk
I Could Make You Mine
Travelin'
Surf Jam
Summertime Blues
Let's Dance
Do You Wanna Dance
Barbara Ann
Surfin' USA

Sheriff Of Noddingham

After the show, I bought the Back In The Garage CD and got it signed by David!

PD: Sadly, the concert scheduled for the followin day in Platja d'Aro was cancelled due to heavy rain.

We've added many "Deep cuts" from your lists at http://beachboyslegacy.com/
Now you can take a look at all the Hits and Gems of the albums, which gives an interesting vision of their value.
16  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Rolling Stone Readers' Poll: The 10 Best Beach Boys Deep Cuts on: July 29, 2016, 04:42:51 AM
Interesting thread.
In our discography web page http://beachboyslegacy.com/ we have labeled those "deep cuts" as "gems". For us, the definition would be: "A lesser known track, but generally considered by Beach Boys aficionados as great or underrated, despite never entering the charts."
We have identified all the Gems of each Beach Boys and Solo albums, but we can revise or add more songs.

We will add some Gems mentioned here that are not in our site Wink

Much of David Marks work is missing. Like POB/Bambu, oddly missing many albums.

Great looking though, very well designed and fast. Great job.

POB/Bambu is under the Pacific Ocean Blue item. We will consider changing that.

More items and updates will be added soon (Mike Love, David Marks and Bruce Johnston albums) but we thought that we had enough material to launch the website.

Stay tuned. Videos, Books, Singles and more will follow!!

Thanks, enjoy the site!

Great site! Congrats and thanks for your work and for linking it here.
I'd have just one suggestion: imo "Pacific Ocean Blue & Bambu - 2 CD Deluxe Legacy Edition" is so important a release that it should have its own independent place. By the way, "Bambu" could have its gems highlighted too.
Speaking of gems, I agree with almost all of them. Smiley

Thanks for your feedback.
We will consider your suggestion about POB.

24  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Brian Wilson and Friends Collector's Edition, Extra tracks on: May 07, 2016, 12:42:32 PM
I got this yesterday. The live CD is amazing.
Still wondering why Al is not singing the lead vocal on Wouldn't It Be Nice in the current PS50 Tour.
Is the DVD playable in the U.S.?
There is no indication of region codes on the cover, so it should be region free.
