RD is for me the highlight of the album! This one totally surprised me and I'm glad Brian left his usual style by the wayside. I have more than enough CDs with his experimental stuff, traditional BW/BB style, and quirky tracks. This track floored me, and this is what will make him accesible to a totally new audience. I also hope this sets the album in motion to going top 10.

I picked up the delux CD on the way to work, will listen to it once I get home. I opened the jewel case and read through the CD booklet. I like the dedication to his daughters which states in part, "...who for the first time will actually think I'm cool..."
What I also liked is the booklet sized flyer for "Love and Mercy" and when you turn it over has promotional material for 50 Big Ones (for beginners), Made in California (for lovers of the music), and the re-release of The Pet Sounds Sessions (for collectors).
I am looking forward to the play through in a few hours.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Girls On The Beach Film Question

I watched my copy of the film just 10 days ago, so I can confirm the following:
1. The title sequence starts with girls running on the beach. This then seques into the boys on stage in the Beach Club miming to the recorded song. The finish the song to applaus, Dennis intoduces the next act, the Crickets, and says, "...in fact we're going to join you" as the band exits the stage. (As Dave Modny pointed out above)
At a later stage:
2. The BBs perform lonely sea, again miming to the recorded song.
Then a bit later:
3. The BBs perform "Little Honda" (again miming to the recorded track with overdubbed claps from the audience).
These are the only times the band is seen in the film. Additional performances are done by the Crickets, Lesley Gore, and the quasi-Beatles group by the girls who play the main roles in the film.

Wooo ooo ooo! (But at three score and five Im very much alive and I still got the jive to survive with the heroes and villains) Actually problem solved. The fortune of being married to a British citizen with a British credit Card and address!
And OMG this material is an awesome Revelation!!! The Fun Fun Fun sessions are amazing! Thanks to Mark and Alan and the Team for putting out a legal requirement with enough love and Devotion to make at least this Little Aussie sitting in Germany very happy!
And anyone who says the Beach Boys arent cool has obviously never listened to Shut Down vol. 2

I have a better idea, let us post about how we absolutely HATE everyone on here. Not normal hate, mind you, I mean the complete and utter hate. At the same time we should explain how the joyus music of BBs and co drives us to such extremes. You know great music leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. Then we can discuss Bruce's shorts. It all ties in superbly.

As we are discussing the virtues of beer, I have to add my two cents worth. I love Jever Pils, which is a north german beer and very bitter. For refreshments on a hot summers day, nothing beats it. Then I like Baltika 9, a russian strong beer (10%) or Faxe (Danish with same %). I also like Hoegaarden white beer, Leffe Blond and Kwak, all from Belgium. When in Oz, then I head straight for Reschs or Tooheys.

Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Remembering Smile Research Laboratories

The whole job incident got me thinking about how this board started (the phoenix of The Smile Shop) and then I had the vague recollections of The Smile Research Laboratory, which is where alot of discussion took place in the days where even the mention of the word "Smile" on Brian's website would get a reprimand. Anyone remember those good old days of Smiling from the shadows?
*apologies if I got the name of the group wrong, but Im pretty sure thats what it was called.

If they offered that package in Europe, I would pay for it. Over the past 30+ years of fanship I can categorically state that the few times I have seen the BBs and Brian, no amount of standing in the right place at the right time has ever allowed me to meet them. The older I get, the less I feel like begging the powers that be to let humble old me say hello to may favourite band. If paying a fee solves all that, and would allow me to get my Sunflower completed with band signatures, then I would do so without question.
