Well, to be fair.... the bootleg outfit who put out "The New Album" also put out 'Adult Child', 'California Feeling' and 'Merry Christmas', leading me to believe that they had a credible source for unreleased albums.

Has anyone compared the "Happy Birthday Mike Love" tape heard on the unreleased "Mike Love Not War/Unleash the Love" Mike solo album to the other versions to see if sounds any better? My recollection is the sound quality was pretty similar. I also recall thinking there was no way Mike would ever get the legal clearance to include the recording if he had actually issued the solo album.
Mike just used one of the common bootleg versions that has Wolfman Jack haphazardly spliced out.

I'm of the opinion that the "New Album" was just someone misunderstanding what Brian said, and never really existed as such.
How so, when a copy of "The New Album" ended up bootlegged on vinyl?

Now that I have this, I have to ask.... Why the 15-minute "Good Vibrations"? I mean, surely this was not an official edit?!
Also, I find it funny that 22 years after the album, people still didn't know what "Barnyard" was - two songs are given that title in the track list, one being "With Me Tonight" and the other being "False Barnyard". (Domenic Priore's book also seems to think that "False Barnyard" is the actual song.)
I mean, did the true identity of "Barnyard" not become known until the demo came out in 1998?

Does anyone have a suggestion where I might put the remaining bits? I tried sticking "All Day" and "Eat A Lot" in a couple different places but they didn't seem to work.... wondering if anyone could come up with something brilliant. Also wondering if there's a place to put that slow piano bit used for the Smile single's "Part 2" - you know, the one after the last 'dit, dit, dit, heroes and villains' variation.

Cannot wait to hear it! (The page isn't loading though......) I'm trying to figure out the proper 'titles' for each of the sections in my version... after research in various sources, this is what I've come up with, though I'm still missing a few bits. 01:26 - Stand Or Fall 02:08 - In The Cantina 02:43 - Fire Intro (my own name for it, but calling it H&V Intro now makes no sense!) 03:23 - My Children Were Raised 03:35 - Threescore And Five 03:46 - Dumb Whistle 03:57 - Prelude To Fade 04:31 - Do You Like Worms? 08:01 - Bicycle Rider Theme 09:26 - Soul Made Beautiful 09:31 - Bridge To Indians 09:38 - Gee 10:25 - Part 2 Variations 10:57 - I'm In Great Shape / Swedish Frog (I really hate that title. They don't say 'frog'!!) 11:44 - Part 2 Variations, continued 12:22 - Barnyard 13:10 - The Old Master Painter 13:26 - You Are My Sunshine 14:15 - Part 2 Variations, conclusion 14:49 - My Children Were Raised, reprise 15:13 - Sunny Down Snuff 16:14 - Barnshine You know, you could cut this track up on a Beach Boys compilation so that choosing 'Shuffle' on your CD player spits out H&V bits all over the disc.... "Fingertips" style!

All these 'Smile/Smiley Smile/whatever other albums or tracks spring to mind'-hybrids that people are posting up sound like incoherent messes to me.
Fire (in the middle of side one?), followed by He Gives Speeches, then Da-Da. I mean... huh? But each to their own...
Well to be fair, I replaced Da-Da with the 1967 "Cool Cool Water". Also, if you dislike that line-up - Fire in the middle of side one, He Gives Speeches - you do realize that's Smiley Smile, right? :-P
