I've been thinking recently.... given the overload of material (three scrapped track-lists and a couple other circulating leftovers to boot), what if "Sunflower" was expanded from a measly 12 tracks to a mighty 31? 

I've started putting this together for myself - the track order is essentially arranged in chronological order according to when the track was completed - and so far it's not too shabby. :-)

Now THAT, to me, is a powerhouse Beach Boys album.

Yeah.... I honestly have no idea where I heard that version now.  It wasn't on my CDR.

I specifically remember expecting them to say "dentist" but they didn't.  Huh... no idea, then.

Huh.... I'm almost tempted to get my Beach Boys CD binder out of my car and listen for sure!!

I'll need to check that out again later.

I'm almost certain, when I tried to piece together "Sun Flower" (the original version) and "Add Some Music" for myself, I used an alternate mix - possibly from 'Get The Boot'? - where they say "wicker chair".

I played "Sunflower" (the normal version) yesterday, and hearing them say "dentist chair" threw me off, I wasn't used to that change!

I'm curious.... other than "Tears In The Morning" (which was originally a different take used), do we know if the songs from the older, scrapped lineups of "Add Some Music/Sunflower" were the same mixes as the released versions?

For example, I know there is an alternate mix of 'Forever' out there, as well as one of 'Add Some Music' (I believe the lyrics say "wicker chair" instead of "dentist chair"?) - were those from the unreleased LP's?

Well, since my 22-minute H&V was more or less buried at the end of a thread, that gave me the opportunity to smooth out some of the edits, and make a more appealing package out of it!

"Surf's Up Part 2" is a 10-minute masterpiece revealing, in graphic detail, the EXACT meaning of 'columnated ruins domino'.

US oddities aside, "Country Air" is a pretty damn strange inclusion.

Is it just me, or does streaming it from the Zippyshare page (instead of downloading it), and playing the heavily-compressed preview version, add some depth that normally isn't there?

It sounds sounds a bit odd and interesting on headphones to me.

I'm curious.... the liner notes of "Smile Second Edition" promise a "Third Edition" to be released sometime in the late 80's.

Eh, I'm not that picky, honestly.  That's why "Shut Down, Vol. 1" was included - it was so closely related it merited inclusion (and in my discography I explain why I included it).

I had no idea "Scrooge's Rock & Roll Christmas" was an album though?  I thought it was only a movie....

Yeah, too much.  I wouldn't even pay more than $50 for the Vigotone "Smile".  (Okay, I might have if it was absolutely necessary, but I found it for $50.)

Because it's not a Mike Love album: he's guesting on several tracks. That's all.

Well, it seems as valid as the Radio Shack stuff - Mike wasn't on every track there.  What about "A Baker's Dozen"?  I mean, was that meant to be a credited collaboration album?

Eh, it'd still be cool to have as a "Smile" collectable.

I highly doubt I'd be able to afford one if it showed up, though!

I kinda do want to get my hands on that 1991 2-LP version now, mainly because I have the rest of them.  So, *cough* you know... :-P

I'm curious.... does anyone actually OWN the Laughing Gravy 45??  It seems *incredibly* rare.  I can't even find the B-side online anywhere.

I did find a label scan of the "Vegetables" side - quite odd that it identifies it as being 'from the album Smiley Smile', when that's clearly not the same version!
