Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Had SMiLE been released, what would Brian have subsequently done?

I agree Brian probably would've followed up SMiLE with something similar to Wild Honey, although Mama Says most likely wouldn't have been on it. Friends would remain mostly unchanged as well, apart from perhaps the Child is The Father of The Man section from Little Bird. It does make me wonder what the SMiLE songs on 20/20, Sunflower and Surf's Up in this universe would be replaced with.
I have all my music on iTunes and it includes SMiLE. So for practical purposes I replace Our Prayer and Cabinessense on 20/20 with Sail Plane Song and Ol’ Man River, respectively. The rest of it is the same. I’ve never noticed any references to Child is Father of the Man in Little Bird. Could you elaborate on that, please? Listen at 1:24.

I think if SMiLE was finished and released, it would've been successful in reigniting The Beach Boys' popularity, but in a completely different way to it was when they were singing about surfing/cars/summer. They would've been appreciated as part of the hip psychedelic scene alongside The Beatles, early Pink Floyd, the Laurel Canyon artists/bands etc. and their next few albums would be much higher anticipated than they were in reality.

I've said this elsewhere, but I'm quite curious to hear what they've done to Sloop John B and Don't Worry Baby. Other than that, I'm not too fussed about this release, and like the most of us, are more eager for something Friends related. It's the usual stuff you'd expect from your average BB comp with a bit of glitter sprinkled on top. I imagine by 2030, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will have made an album for everyone in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. One question does remain though: WHY THE [insert profanity here] DOES KOKOMO NEED AN ORCHESTRAL BACKING!? Update: Just listened to Good Vibrations. This one is quite good - it's better than Fun, Fun, Fun but I'm still waiting for their versions of SJB and DWB and still not too keen about the other tracks chosen.

Hey, everyone, I'm Pitter Patter. I've noticed quite a few of you are the same guys from the Pet Sounds forum. I was a member of that forum (under the username thefirstmate) until up until about a month ago when nothing really interested me as much on there anymore and I deleted my account. I thought I'd start out again somewhere different (here), seeing as I still want to chat with others about the Beach Boys, and after looking around, I think this place seems to cover a broader range of topics and is more interesting IMO. (Sorry, PS forum people! ) Anyways, here's a few things about me: I'm from England and have been a Beach Boys fan since December 2016, after I heard Little Saint Nick on some Christmas compilation spured me to check them out further. They have since become my second favourite band after The Beatles! I am also a member of the Fab Forum on the website The Beatles Bible (another great place to check out of you haven't already). My favourite Beach Boys album is Friends, and my favourite member is probably a tie between Dennis and Al. Hopefully, I will be here to stay on this forum, and I hope I can fit in right away!
