76  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Internet TV Show on: September 15, 2006, 06:34:04 PM
I like Tom Green, despite his waning popularity, and I'm just wondering if anybody has seen his Internet talk show at www.tomgreen.com .  It's not the MTV Tom Green that most know him for and you can tell he wants to be taken seriously here as a legitimate host (much like his second stint at MTV with a late night talk show that lasted half a summer).  It's all out of his basement, but pretty professional and groundbreaking to me.

Plus, who doesn't want to watch the bizarre Crispin Glover interviewed for over an hour??

I agree with the masses on this thread.  I love the song and the arrangement on it.  It's one of the instrumentals I enjoy most off of the box set.  I think this anti-John B sentiment is a product of Rolling Stone wanting to hang on to one last bit of animosity towards the Beach Boys, but no longer able to fully express their hatred, Brian being acknowledged as a genius and all.

I generally don't like newer rock. I just don't see the artistry or talent in most of it. Two bands that do strike me as talented creative and rocking are The White Stripes, and Franz Ferdinand.

Yeah, Franz Ferdinand is cool too...

i think paul newman is great too. so is robert shaw on the sting....he is soooo good on Jaws!

But, the greatest man in Jaws?  The old guy at the beach with the saggy boobs.  Now, where did I put that video...

That's the second post you ever made that made me laugh.

(The first was my listing on the Smiley Smile Bastard Countdown)

Well, I'm 2 out of 117.  Not bad.

Hey, we haven't had much enthusiasm here at all lately, so I welcomed it with my insightful post...or something.

Am I really the only one that cringes at the idea of Brian singing in Spanish with that slurred voice of his?  It just sounds like an awful idea.

You bunch of elitists!  I'm taking my garbage opinions and going home!

Yes!  Brian singing a song in spanish!  One can only hope for "Featuring: Special Guest, Esteban."

Haven't heard this all, but it's not that great.  Still, people like to hear these things, so, scope it out:

I've become a monk and taken a vow of silence. And now I've broken it to answer you. Thanks a lot.

But, what an answer it was...
90  Non Smiley Smile Stuff / The Sandbox / Re: Stingray Kills 'Crocodile Hunter' Irwin on: September 04, 2006, 11:19:22 AM
CAIRNS, Australia Sep 4, 2006 (AP) Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian television personality and conservationist known as the "Crocodile Hunter," was killed Monday by a stingray while filming off the Great Barrier Reef. He was 44.

Irwin was at Batt Reef, off the remote coast of northeastern Queensland state, shooting a segment for a series called "Ocean's Deadliest" when he swam too close to one of the animals, which have a poisonous bard on their tails, his friend and colleague John Stainton said.

"He came on top of the stingray and the stingray's barb went up and into his chest and put a hole into his heart," said Stainton, who was on board Irwin's boat at the time.

Crew members aboard the boat, Croc One, called emergency services in the nearest city, Cairns, and administered CPR as they rushed the boat to nearby Low Isle to meet a rescue helicopter. Medical staff pronounced Irwin dead when they arrived a short time later, Stainton said.

I don't really see you post much anymore and you're not really on AIM ever either.  Are you in seclusion?

Does anybody recognize this name?  He is the main driving force behind 90's band, Presidents of the United States of America ("Lump," "Peaches").  Anyway, he's done a number of albums with that band, last as early as 2004, as well as a number of side projects.  He is easily one of my favorite artists.  I know he is kind of sophmoric with his song topics, but the musical range he has and his knack for a briliant, little melody is incredible.

Anybody else?  I can send you some stuff if you're interested.  I don't know how many minds it will blow, but it's just great, small, often times experimental songs.

That's the only Zepplin album I've really ever heard.  I think it's great, but just haven't listened to much else.  Maybe parts of II...

That pig one wouldn't happen to be a threat, would it?
97  Smiley Smile Stuff / General On Topic Discussions / Re: Idea for a movie: on: August 29, 2006, 07:39:53 PM

An HBO series is brilliant! Something like Band of Brothers...

No pun intended I'm sure.
