Mike Meros Memorial Scheduled

A memorial for the late Mike Meros has been scheduled for April 19 in Thousand Oaks, California.

Summers, especially the Baltimore summers of his youth, held a special place in Mike Meros' heart. The warmth of the sun fed his soul and, from 1979 to 2000, he enjoyed endless summers as the touring keyboardist for the Beach Boys.

But touring the globe and playing hits like "Good Vibrations" was just part of a sunny and storied career for Meros, who died of a heart attack Dec. 26 at his home in Thousand Oaks. He was 57.

Friends and family will gather at the Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks on Saturday to look back at his life. At the event, dubbed Cool Bash, they'll share stories, give speeches and watch videos. There'll be much music, too, including performances by members of the Surf City AllStar Band, Meros' former piano students and the children's choir from St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church in Thousand Oaks.
