Brian Wilson, Beach Boys, and more

BW Writes New Songs In Australia

The Daily Telegraph says Brian Wilson is working on new songs in Australia:

A HAPPY and relaxed Brian Wilson has been busy writing new material in Sydney between shows, The Daily Telegraph can reveal.

The Beach Boys legend even had a piano delivered to his room and roped a staffer into singing harmonies as he worked his magic on the keys.

"I was always told in choir to just mouth the words," Wilson's personal festival minder Craig Gilliver said yesterday of his sing-along.

"But he said, 'Craig, can you sing this harmony?' and you can't say no to Brian Wilson.

"So I became a Beach Boy for about 30 seconds. I'll be dining out on this one for a while.

"He has definitely (been) working on another album. Brian has been writing a lot."

Dancing In The Aisles For Brian

Brian's State Theater concert in Australia gets a rave review:

After a short interval, he returned to perform his latest composition That Lucky Old Sun (A Narrative). For all the tapping legs and clapping hands of the first half, it was time to sit back and watch a piece that was the ultimate in reflection unfurl.

The romance of California is still there in his creative blood and so too is the signature Beach Boy falsetto but underneath was a beautiful musical work that showered you with Wilson's strongest suite - the nobility of innocence.

Coupled with a visually delightful, and at times psychedelic purple, red and yellow visual display, it was an evening that had the audience in the palm of his hands.

As an encore, with the entire State Theatre giving him a standing ovation, he dived back into the world of his youth keeping the audience standing in elation and dancing to the songs that are the soundtrack to many lives.

It was a concert beautifully orchestrated and the selection of songs performed, of which there are over forty, put equal footing on the legacy he has left and the future he still has in front of him. Brian Wilson may be a pop idol to his contemporaries but it's clear that his brilliance has not diminished over such a long career.
