Maybe a silly question, but why did Paley sing a version of this? Is it because he wrote most of it?

He wrote almost all of it: his vocal was a demo for Carl, as that was who he wrote it for.

Still a great song even if it's not as much Brian as i'd thought. And Carl kicks arse on it like no one's business, especially if he wasn't that into it.


The Paley versions of GIOMH, Soul Searchin, You're Still a Mystery and Chain Reaction of Love are quite odd in a Brian-pastiche kind of way, aren't they?. Full of twists and turns and odd/unexpected melodies. I'd love Brian to do some material like this. Let me revise that: I'd love Brian to be interested in making material like this still, i don't want another GIOMH Album.
