Poor reporting I suspect but after the Reagan show...who knows?

The current version of the band features founding members Mike Love and Al Jardine and longtime member Bruce Johnston.

link won't work for me.....

I wouldn't be surprised if Al rejoined them, at least for this anniversary-year

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

I would be - Mike seems pretty tight with a buck.  The band has gone from 7 supporting musicians and 4 Beach Boys when Carl died to 5 supporting mucicans and 2 Beach boys now.  I am not sure that having Al on board can pay for itself with additional ticket sales so if Al comes back somebody has got to go and the current second guitarist is  . . . . . . . .

Cannot confirm. Rather, the opposite: just had an (electronic) word with someone who should probably know and they said, not.

Of course, March 14th is some way off yet and Alan only got the Reagan call a week before the gig, but as of now - no Alan.

But would Al coming back cost a great deal more?  Al already gets a share of the revenue from BRI, correct?

Another story with Al in the line-up. How good is your source AGD? (I suspect Bruce myself Wink)

"We had some other options we were going to pursue, but The Beach Boys just seemed like it was the best fit because it (appeals to) little kids on up to senior citizens. Everybody knows The Beach Boys. They're a party band; they're all-American, and it kind of fits with the car show. It just seemed to work."

Have to say, given that Mike's official Facebook page reposted news of a May Alabama that mentioned Alan as being part of the line-up without comment or alteration, it's possible events have moved on. I hope so.

I was surprised at how easily Al sat in with the band at the Reagan show.  Al can still go.  I think it adds a little legitimacy to the sound as well.  They sounded pretty damn good at that show.

If Al comes back, Dave, plus Billy H, Eddie Carter, Bobby Figueroa, etc. should also be there. And if Brian decides to participate, I'd like to see at least Darian and Jeff, and if possible, Probyn Gregery, Scotty Bennett, and Nicky Wonder in there.

If Dennis and Carl are there, then it is only fair to invite Mike Meros.  Smiley

50 people on stage for a 50th anniversary seems like a catchy gimmick. Would that be counting the cheerleaders too I wonder... Roll Eyes

Yeah but they're only three degrees of seperation away from Hot Cheerleaders.

1. John Stamos will absolutely be there he always is.
2. He's on Glee
3. Glee has Hot Cheerleaders.
