Special thanks to PapillonJunkie for sending me this footage.

That was cool!
couldn't get my volume to go up enough to hear it properly, but still, not that hard to follow.  Wish I understood French.
The November 15th date messes with the current info on their 64 Euro tour, tho.
Perhaps pajamas could provide Ian with more info?

The name of the MPG for this video was "Les Beach Boys à Montmartre (15-11-1964)", and that's all I've got to go on. That, and my source's ascertation that this footage hasn't turned up since its original broadcast till now.

[I Get Around ♫]

[0:02-0:48]

- Ah, bon!
- Mike Love...
- Brian Wilson...
- Al Jardine...
- Dennis Wilson...
- Carl Wilson...

- Are you glad to be in Paris? It's the first time you've come here?
- Yes!

- And what do you think about Montmartre?
- Oh, beautiful, just beautiful!

Al - I don't understand, what is "Commune Libre du Vieux Montmartre - Mairie"?
Interviewer - Ah, that's a mairie, "Commune Libre du Vieux Montmartre", that's the freedom of the Montmartre people!
Al - Oh, I understand.

Carl - What's the "Mère Catherine"?
Interviewer - "La Mère Catherine", [unintelligible], very known in Montmartre.

Brian - What does "glaces" mean?
Interviewer - "Boulangerie"? That's bread; "pâtisserie", that's... Cakes.
Brian - "Glaces"?
Interviewer - "Glaces", that's ice cream!
- Oh, ice cream!

=======================

[I Get Around ♫]

[0:02-0:48]

- Between two rehearsals with Albert Raisner at the Moulin de la Galette, five happy and likeable Americans came "as neighbors", cameras and video cameras in their hands, in order to visit the famous place du Tertre and its "rapins", a place that's talked about as much in New York as in Honolulu, in Moscow as in Melbourne. Of course, you've identified them, they're the Beach Boys, that you had seen this week in "Age Tendre et Tête de Bois". Usually, we can see and hear them as a band. But today they're beyond the screen, so you're going to see them one by one. Forgive me for not introducing them, but my English is terrible! They're going to introduce themselves in a jiffy anyway.

Albert Raisner was a TV presenter, and one of his most popular shows was "Age Tendre et Tête de Bois", some kind of French "Shindig!", if you will. The show was recorded at the "Moulin de la Galette" studio, which is just a couple of minutes away from the "place du Tertre", which explains why they're here "as neighbors". "Rapins" is slang for "art students" - the place du Tertre is full of painters, that's what Mike refers to in "Belles of Paris" ("the painters show their art...")

The 'Boys did two songs on "Age Tendre...", "I Get Around" and "Fun, Fun, Fun"

- Fun, Fun, Fun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llSTmObgNEI

[1:09-2:12]

- Now, I think the Beach Boys will introduce themselves...
- Ah, right!

A "mairie" is a town hall. The name "commune libre" is a nod to the "commune" of the French Revolution and to the later (1871) "commune", but this particular "commune libre" is an association created by a few intellectuals and artists. It's a "fake" town hall, for their "fake" "commune".

Carl - What's the "Mère Catherine"?
Interviewer - "La Mère Catherine", [unintelligible], very known in Montmartre.

The interviewer messes up his words, but the Mère Catherine is the most famous restaurant in Montmartre.

Brian - What does "glaces" mean?
Interviewer - "Boulangerie"? That's bread; "pâtisserie", that's... Cakes.
Brian - "Glaces"?
Interviewer - "Glaces", that's ice cream!
- Oh, ice cream!

Maybe 11/15 was the date it was aired ?

Whatever, wonderful, wonderful stuff, and pristine video quality !

Done me some sluething - Albert Reisner (or Raisner) was a harmonica player who also hosted the TV show Age Tendre et Tete du Bois, which the BB appeared on on 11/10/64, so the 11/15 date is either the air date, or an error.

edit - wish people wouldn't write stuff here in a color that's almost impossible to read against dark gray... that's why I didn't see what I've just checked out has already been posted.

I deliberately wrote it in green so as not to divert people's attention from the actual translation. Is pink more to your liking? Also, you're welcome.

Something more to my liking would be anything I can read without straining, given that my eyesight has deteriorated markedly this year.

Once again great rare footage from French archives. Still waiting for a undiscovered 2 hour 1964 Olympia concert film.
According to AGD's site "Age Tendre..." was recorded on November 10 and the Paris gig was on November 18. Perhaps the boys were there twice and stayed a couple of days the 2nd time? France -> Italy -> Germany -> France -> Schweden ?

7 - BBC2 Open House TV show, London
8 - ITV Thank Your Lucky Stars TV show, Birmingham (broadcast 14th)
10 - TF2 Age Tendre Et Tete Du Bois TV show, Paris, France
11 - RAI TV show, Rome, Italy
12 - Rome
13 - 2nd Network TV show taping, Munich, West Germany
14 - to 17: Frankfurt & Berlin
18 - Olympia Theatre, Paris [w/Dick Rivers]

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Again-footage turns up that I thought might be gone forever.  Yes that was taped on their first visit to Paris on Nov 10 1964.  Documents have turned up that allowed me to date this stuff better.  That footage aired on a TV show called Au Dela De L'ecran.  Very cool footage to see

Should point out for those that have my ESQ article that since writing that I have found evidence that the BBs taped a TV appearance in Rome on Nov 11 and in Munich on Nov 13.  Hence we are able to more accurately date where the BBs were on the first trip in much greater detail.  The updated info is on Bellagio (now hosted by ESQ).  Earl Leaf wrote a number of articles about the tour and states that the BBs returned to Paris after leaving Germany and before Sweden.  Hence-they taped the TV apps on Nov 10 and returned for the concert at the Olympia on Nov 18.
