Mmmmboy, all those live SMiLE sets...didn't realize there were so many! I have a bizarre compulsion to get them all...are they all floating around in the, uh, sea of Green?

They sang Hearts at The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson on May 2, 1968. Maybe in New York??

For some reason, I'm still thinking that it *may* have been a Boston station. Though, that's simply a vague and cloudy recollection at this point. I also seem to remember it having that heavy, underground FM vibe to it, so I'm wondering if it may have been closer to '69, '70? Then again, who's to say that "vibe" didn't already exist in early '68?

The sad part is, I still have that tape. Somewhere. It's just not turning up. Thus, I'm kind of hoping someone else has heard it.  Smiley

I thought I would bring this topic back, to get some discussion going about a few shows. I didn't know that Carl played a few shows with the group in early 1981. How were the shows, compaired to ones after Carl left?

I saw the Beach Boys with Carl  and Brian n January 1981 in  Davis  CA with American Spring opening.    I cannot remember if Dennis was present.   The Beach Boys sounded well rehearsed and in fine form.   Aa I recall, earlier in the day, the U.S. Olympic Hockey team beat Russian for the GOLD Medal.     The next time I saw them was in May 1981 in Concord, CA without Carl but Dennis and Brian were present.  The band with Ernie Knapp on guitar or bass sounded ragged and off key.  Carl makes the difference and has them rehearsing!

What about the early 1978 shows before they played Australia? Was Carl in a similar condition as he was in Australia?

Can't speak for the pre-Australasian tour of early 1978 but Carl already seems to be in an altered state at the Largo, MD in January 1977.
Does anyone know if he remained that way for the rest of the 1977 into 1978 or were they isolated instances?

I'm curios about this too. I have a show the group did in 1977 at Central Park, and Carl's performance is quite poor. Even in the studio, Carl's voice was badly effected by drinking and doing other substances. As late as the MIU album, Carl's voice doesn't sound like it normally would.

9/30/95 Prado Regional Park, Chino, CA

Well I need to get my hands on a copy of this if it is out there, as this was my very first Beach Boys concert.

It would be cool if we could list all of the available recordings from last years reunion tour. With today's technology, I would assume that virtually all of the shows exist in some form, right?

I have audience wavs of Brian's last two Glasgow Concert Hall shows on a hard drive.  I'd be interested in sending them to someone who would be up for doing any necessary sound adjustments and splitting them up into flacs.   I don't know if these shows are in circulation or not.  Please don't P.M. me about sending them unless you can do the the above to get them 'out there'.

Also sorry and delete this post if saying this ain't cool here.

There may be a couple of nice soundboards from 1996 as well that are not on the list.

Not that I have them... but these recordings definately do exist:
Live in Switzerland  1964...

Most certainly does NOT exist, on the unassailable grounds that they didn't play in Switzerland - or even visit it - on the 1964 European tour.

I forgot about making this thread.  Grin Damn fine one, too. Perhaps this compiled list could be "stickied" to the front page, for research purposes?  Man, those were the glory days of the board.
