Are there enough unreleased songs for a Stars and Stripes vol.2? I would buy a copy if they ever decide to release such an album. Just to hear the Beach Boys background vocals on a whole album, is worth the price of admission.

Rumour has it that the following (real) country standards by the BBs and friends are lodged somewhere in Mike Love's vaults:

1. Get Your Tongue Outta My Mouth Cause I'm Kissing You Good-bye.

2. I Don't Know Whether To Kill Myself or Go Bowling.

3. If I Can't Be Number One In Your Life, Then Number Two On You.

4. I Sold A Car To A Guy Who Stole My Girl,
But It Don't Run So We're Even.

5. Mama Get A Hammer (There's A Fly On Daddy's Head).

6. If The Phone Don't Ring, You'll Know It's Me.

7. She's Actin' Single and I'm Drinkin' Doubles.

8. How Can I Miss You If You Won't Go Away.

9. I Keep Forgettin' I Forgot About You.

10. I Liked You Better Before I Knew You So Well.

11. I Still Miss You Baby, But My Aim's Gettin' Better.

12. I Wouldn't Take Her To A Dog Fight, Cause I'm Afraid She'd Win.

13. I'll Marry You Tomorrow, But Let's Honeymoon Tonight.

14. I'm So Miserable Without You; It's Like Having You Here.

15. I've Got Tears In My Ears From Lying On My Back Cryin' Over You.

16. If I Had Shot You When I Wanted To, I'd Be Out By Now.

17. My Head Hurts, My Feet Stink, And I Don't Love You.

18. My Wife Ran Off With My Best Friend and I Sure Do Miss Him.

19. Please Bypass My Heart.

20. She Got The Ring and I Got The Finger.

21. You Done Tore Out My Heart and Stomped That Sucker Flat.

22. You're the Reason Our Kids Are So Ugly.

23. Her Teeth Were Stained, But Her Heart Was Pure.

24. She's Looking Better After Every Beer.

25. I Ain't Never Gone To Bed With An Ugly Woman, But I Sure Woke Up With a Few.

Also, "Drop-kick Me Jesus, Thru The Goal Posts Of Life".

The BBs should've just done an entire album of old drinking songs. Considering their storied history, they'd probably do a monstrous job! LOL

I guess that were the secret "The Beach Boys Meet The Pogues" sessions, then?

We could prolly do a fan mix of the Beach Boys singing drunk at concerts...got a lot to choose from, Dennis, Carl, and Brian supply enough material.

The Wilson brothers should've just f***ed off from The Beach Boys in 1978 to do their own thing together.

I remember that one, as done by Kinky Friedman & His Texas Jewboys, tho I couldn't wswear they were the first.
This one is more rockabilly, but has closer BB connections:

"Love Seeps Like A Festering Sore."

Are the Boys on it, or is it just Brian and Tammy?

That one is a duet with Brian only - the version featuring Brian and the other Beach Boys can be found on the "Nashville Sounds" DVD.

The Wilson brothers should've just fodido off from The Beach Boys in 1978 to do their own thing together.

But would they have sold as many records then? Dennis' and Carl's solo albums weren't big sellers in the day. The Beach Boys are greater than the sum of the parts, that unique vocal mix which no one else has matched, although Assciation and Mamas and the Papas were pretty big, too.

As a bonus track for a Stars and Stripes vol.2 they can add "Fun, Fun, Fun" which they recorded with boogie rockers Status Quo!  Grin

Exactly, although IIRC the speed is a bit different. I once made a "fan edit" by replacing the "Nashville Sounds" intro (Brian was talking over it) with the "Tammy Remembered" intro, and I think I had to change the speed so it didn't sound awkward.

And the Fat Boys, did they record anything other than Wipe Out with The Fat Boys? Some single B-sides?
