This is a 100% genuine thread. I'm not taking the piss or trying to be "different", I'm genuinely interested.

What we know about these people must only scratch the surface. Sure there's the music, books, etc., but that's not everything. I want to know the little tiny details.

Has Brian ever been in the woods? Like for a hike or roam around? Besides that photo session in 1966 that seemed to be in a woodsy setting. What is his favorite time of day? Does he have a favorite animal? What does he think of tigers, giraffes, octopuses, monkeys? If he had the choice between tea and coffee, which would he pick? When he dreams, does he hear music? In his dreams, does he ever interact with people from his past? Is Mike Love a dream demon that chases him relentlessly through the astral realm? Does Loren Schwartz appear to him grinning and menacingly zany, offering LSD and Zen koans? Does he dream of roller skating children skating around his keyboard? Hey little tomboy, sit here on my lap...

What does Brian think of when he wakes up each day? When he lays down to sleep, what does he think of? Does he think of Marilyn often? Diane? Does he imagine either of them, or both, while doing the dirty boogie with Melinda? If he could choose between a life time supply of cocaine or birthday cake, which would he finally settle on after long deliberation? Is Brian Wilson God? Did Brian have a homosexual relationship with GeneIUS Landy? If so, who was top? Who was bottom? Or did they take turns? Was Brian reeeeeeally so unaware of goings on around him that Landy could take advantage of him so badly financially etc? Or was he just allowing it, in his own strange way?

When Brian's home alone, no kids, no wife, what does he do? Play keyboard? Watch Tv? Masturbate? Sing loudly and crazily now that no one can hear? Prank call the neighbors? When he's in the mood for a movie, which does he pick from his DVD collection? Don't say Norbit. I don't even know what that is but it sounds like another of Brian's "My favorite new band is Green Day" type of answer. Brian says he doesn't wallow in the mire, but does he ever sit down at his piano and bang out an old Beach Boys song? Like, Catch A Wave? Wild Honey (his mating call to Melinda, one assumes)?

Al Jardine - what drugs HAS squeaky clean Al Jardine taken? I have a theory that Al is a secret stoner, and that the "official story" of Brian driving Al around the parking lot trying to convince him to take LSD is just a cover up to protect Al's image from friends and family. What really happened is that Al took a heroic dose of LSD and spent the night listening to Sloop John B with the biggest grin on his face one has ever seen. Terrence McKenna saw cosmic elves in DMT space. It was really just Al Jardine's spirit in the astral realm grinning at Terrence. No wonder Al LOVE Honk honk, honkin down the highway.

Imagine Al Jardine giving it to a girl, one little inch at a time now? What would he say? Well oh my! oh gosh! oh gee! she really sends chills (orgasmic bliss) inside of me.

Brian likes to watch Jeopardy and Wheel Of Fortune. He enjoys listening to Diana Ross.

Al Jardine probably washes his own dishes but I don't really know for sure.

I'm pretty sure that drugs are all a part of the past for all BB members with the exception of Mike Love (muscle relaxers/pain killers).

Very funny post of yours.  Roll Eyes

He also wants you to eat pies at Marie Callenders!

I like to watch Jeopardy too. And I live in the Pacific Time Zone also. Maybe we're watching it at the same time? I have to pass on Wheel of Fortune though.....

You think Brian's not on drugs?

Even if he takes drugs to keep his moods at bay or stop the voice, they're still mind-altering drugs. Pain killers too ... who knows whether Mike exceeds the dosage to get an opiate high or not? After a long night of Little Deuce Couping I'd want to get high too.

Somewhat related - we know that Paul & John met up at least once in the 70s and tripped on acid like old times together. Do we know if Brian ever did something similar with Dennis or Carl or other friends?

Regarding the Our Prayer "are you feeling the acid yet?" - has it ever been determined who exactly was coming up on acid at that session? Carl, Dennis, Brian? I haven't heard it in a while but I recall Mike sounding pretty unhinged, or just relaxed. There were joints going around, maybe he had one of those?

According to the new Carlin article, Brian spends a lot of time listening to his cable network's 60s music station (and watching the little logo float across the black screen, apparently).

He eats, he exercises, he plays piano, he watches TV. I don't think it's a particularly exciting life.

When I read that I wondered - does Brian listen to that station for the nostalgia, the music, or to have that joy when the Beach Boys come on? Or all three? I imagine that he still probably gets a kick when one of his songs comes on the radio, just like he probably did back in that day. I've heard of a lot of famous musicians who secretly watch MTV all the time (Kurt Cobain did this) just waiting for their videos and music to be played.

Here's what I'd like to know: how did the loins of someone as nasty as Murry produce three of the most beautiful voices in history?

Who says Murry is so nasty? Isn't Murry the guy who said SING FROM YOUR HEART NOT YOUR EGO or something to that effect? Valuable life lessons, I'd say. Sounds like a man who loves his sons and wants them to succeed, not just financially, but spiritually, personally.

It's significant that Murry did things like let them form a band in the first place. I know many fathers who are so controlling that their kids would NEVER be given that chance. It's not just like he bought them classical violin lessons, remember. They were a band playing popular youth music of their day - stuff parents typically don't like!

So say what you will about Murry...I think there's plenty of evidence that he's not so one-sided as people like to paint him. Murry was a very deep soul.

How did Mike get so cool/good with woman? I want to talk to girls but whenever I do the chicken dance they laugh.
Al, how the hell do I boogaloo it?
Bruce, why do you make so many bad things?

Where'd you hear the Paul and John bit? Seems like an interesting piece of trivia...

What I want to know about Brian... did he ever feel the need to go anywhere and go on and on about Drugs, to see if anybody would react, and then he could get in a big discussion with them about whether or not drugs were really as bad as they said they were?  That would be so interesting!  He could bait them into a conversation about drugs. He could start up one conversation, and then if nobody bit, he could move onto another conversation, and on and on, and by the end of the day, somebody would probably say "Drugs are bad" and he would finally get his conversation started that he so desperately was looking for.  Wonder if he ever did that?

I was about to say no way I could see Brian picking arguments but then I could picture perfectly mid 70's Brian (like how he looked/acted on the Mike Douglas show) and I can totally see him doing that.

Can't remember off top of head but it's legit. May have been Goldman bio of Lennon - which you may dismiss on those grounds, though I don't at all. I'm certain I read it somewhere else too - don't think it's a big secret or anything, just an interesting bit of trivia as you say. It was perhaps when John was with Mae and not Yoko.

Isn't Murry the guy who said SING FROM YOUR HEART

In an interview just a few days ago, Brian said the reason the Gershwin compositions are so powerful is because George, "wrote from his heart."

He walks to his safe. He dials a number only he knows. He opens it, and takes out the completed 1967 version of SMiLE, on pristine vinyl. He pours himself a Laphroaigh without ice, but with two drops of pure distilled water. He lights a Cuban cigar. He takes the LP out of its original Frank Holmes cover, and gently puts it on his state-of-the-art vinyl replay system.

He checks his watch, and sees that Melinda and the kids won't be there for at least two hours. He leans back in his Chesterfield, sips his Scotch, puffs away a bit at his Cohiba. Then, at last, he starts the turntable and adjusts the sound a bit.

He sits down again, and listens. 'I made that', he muses, 'and I guess it's O.K. Yes, it's O.K. It's not really Wishbone Ash, but it's O.K. nevertheless'.

Try listening to the boot again - the substance of choice that day was coke.
