my only source is what i remember from Amadeus...

-obviously both geniuses
-both had supportive wives but left them at times
-a fellow but jelous musician (Mozart: Sallerrie...BW: George Martin)
-others very unsure of their writing, but the end result surprised them
-both very influencial fathers
-both attended mad-hatters-tea-party-like atmospheres

dont know much about Mozart's personal problems, looks as though very dependent on alcohol...any drugs?

Donīt hang to closely on the Amadeus-movie. Itīs full of errors. Or "creative freedom".

Btw, how about some parralles between Brian and Beethoven:

- both are genuis
- Brian is deaf in one ear, Beethoven became completely deaf
- they both suffered from depression
- both worked on a project for a very long time (SMiLE and the 9th)
- both work were supposed to be an "ode to joy"
- both used poets for the lyrics, Brian used Van Dyke, Beethoven used Schiller
- both were male ( Wink)

Compare Brian with Goethe, especially "Smile" and "Faust". Both took a long time to finish. I know, Goethe was a writer, but I think it makes sense to compare those works.

Both died in their early thirties.  Both wrote complicated pieces when they were three.  Both wore silly wigs.  Both are Austrian.  Both have had very factual movies made about them.  Both have the name "Wolfgang."  Both have a high, childish laugh...

I love to look at Mozart's handwriting...apparently these ink marks are just symbols on a sheet of paper...but for many years this was the only way to preserve your music...amazing.   

1st page to Mozart's Piano Concerto in A major K. 488 (March, 1786):




The instruments listed on the left of his score are (from the top):
1st Violins
2nd Violins
Violas
Flutes
Clarinets(2 staves)
Horns (2 staves)
Bassoons
Solo Piano (2 staves of course)
Cellos and Bass (together on 1 stave)

However, I agree that Brian compares more with Beethoven rather than Mozart.

I'd agree.

Though he did tell the Beatles to make things, "Symphonic" which i'm sure was a direct influence of the Wilson/Spector kind of thing.

..the first time I heard the harpsichord backing instrumental from Wonderful on SOT17, I thought this sounds like something from Mozart...
