Gee. If the Happy Together Tour stop here had included the BBs, that would have made it an, amost, can't miss gig.

was at this show, figured there hasn't been a recent setlist uploaded online in a while so i marked down the songs/got a setlist from the stage after the show. i gotta say, i was really impressed with the band tonight (especially uncle Jesse, who showed that if Dennis Wilson [with his "what a wonderful pleasure to play for people like you" comment from the famous video;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSIvTq6tzUI&feature=related
) and Elvis Presley [see everything Stamos does with his guitar] were to have a hunky love child whose hope was to mimic their every move, he/she would know how to "rock" a crowd
). anyhow, here's how i explained it to my dad; seeing Brian for the first time was an emotional experience (for obvious reasons) while Mike's show was a more fun and playful experience (be it Mike's "your mother" jokes to John Stamos or the classic Beach Boy sway during Fun Fun Fun; see this video at around the 6:10 mark

Somebody explain it to me. Did John Stamos throw away his career... to be a backup drummer for what's left of the Beach Boys? I always liked him... and I didn't think he was a horrible actor. Even if he WAS a horrible actor, he's a good looking guy and the girls like him, he could have had work. I haven't seen him do anything in years, besides drum for the BB's.... so... what conclusion I'm arriving at is... I think i'm starting to respect John Stamos! SAY IT ISN'T SO!

Obviously, you're not a fan of Entourage on HBO, otherwise you'd have seen that Stamos is going to be on the next episode:
http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b191051_john_stamos_embraces_beach_boys.html?cmpid=rss-000000-rssfeed-365-topstories
He was a
huge
fan of Dennis' back when he was a soap opera star, and drove a friend of mine crazy to get to meet him.
Also, someone called me during last nights Coney Island show, (
Howie, was that you?
), and I couldn't figure out the call until I realized it was a live version of "Surf City" coming through my phone. I then remembered reading about this show right here, and was sorry I was on the other coast!

Even more than cheerleaders?
Say what you will about Stamos-and really, I've never been a fan of his-I seriously doubt the BB's have him in the band to try and capitalize on his 'celebrity'. Maybe 20 years ago, not now.

correct. Had nothing to do with you or your post, Howie. Apologies for it's deletion (which goes for all that are missing a post that was made yesterday).

I was at the show, and it was my first time seeing the current Beach Boys group; I thought they sounded great! I know people weren't that kind about the Dancing With The Stars performance, but Mike's voice sounded great throughout the whole show, and Bruce did a great job with God Only Knows.
I've seen Brian's band many times, and saw two of the Pet Sounds shows with Al Jardine, which were great as well. Brian's band does a great job of getting the instrumentation just like the records, but the Beach Boys band's vocals were even better.
I've seen four of the surviving Beach Boys in concert; now if only I could see them on one stage...

question; i just commented in another thread about Mike's joke about John Stamos' mother. his first comment was something like this, "this is a song we wrote back in 1963. now John (Stamos) is saying that he was born in 1963, and i can verify that because me and his mother used to spend a lot of nights together back then."
does anyone remember what the second one was? all i remember was that it was a pretty shocking/hilarious comment.

The funny thing is, knowing what we know about Beach Boys history, this comment if true would not be the craziest thing to happen between band members and relatives of other band members.
If that makes sense... man it's late.

They are still doing Betsy and Disney Girls and several other songs not on that list. But maybe only at certain venues.
I saw them July 18th at the Mountain Winery near Sarasota Ca. The show was 2 hours or more long....2.5 including intermission.
Bruce sounded GREAT compared to what I heard in Oct. 2008. Great playing and harmony from the band and Bruce on Disney girls.
As usual Scott Totten nailed Ole Betsy. I have the setlist but will have to review it (
)again before posting.
DYWD dedicated to Dennis, GOK dedicated to Carl.
Christian Love is in good vocal form and with a little help from Randall on the high notes, did a good job with songs such as GV.
And Mr. Love senior is still crusin quite well and stiil the frontman he has always been.
John Cowsill played his ass off on drums and was a strong vocal presence on several numbers.
If there are any hardcore holdouts left who still avoid these shows, you are missing something truly worth seeing and hearing.

Don, the Mountain Winery is in "Saratoga" Ca. I live a hop, skip, and a jump away from there. I think "Sarasota" is in Florida.
Good venue, the Winery is though. Not bad acoustics, eh?

Yes Mikie. Saratoga. Across Rt. 9 or 17 from Santa Croose
There is also a Saratoga on the east coast.
Yes. Great acoustics and beautiful setting. Getting all those cars off of the mountain on the one lane road in the dark was tricky but well choreographed. You live north of San Jose?

Yeah, a little bit North. Been down that mountain road a few times after concerts and it's a little challenging, especially after a few beers.
Too bad I didn't know you were coming out here, Don - we coulda had a V-8!
