We somehow never bring it up, but one of all time classic shoegaze band Lush has once recorded for an EP a studio cover of .... Fallin' In Love by Dennis!

Thanks for these, nice to see new names digging BBs.

"Don't Worry Baby" by 60s band Fun & Games (Houston,TX): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6rH-xvazds
Not as lush vocally but nice sunshine pop. Check the Elephant Candy LP produced by Gary Zekley.

I don't know if any of you are into Hip Hop or electro, but the Beach Boys are quite sampled to pretty cool beats!

Xzibit - Highest Form Of Understanding
https://youtu.be/ZQovr36y7mM
Produced by Xzibit himself, makes a really badass use of Good Vibrations verses

K. Sparks & Jeff Chery - I Bet He's Nice
https://youtu.be/ZXTwgqH7Jmw
This one has to be the craziest, a song that is based around, you've read it, I'll Bet He's Nice! the whole text takes from the title and the samples are all over the track, amazing

C-Mon & Kypski - Air Play
https://youtu.be/Go6XdmQCpkU
This one uses some of the narration of the Mount Vernon and Fairway, who would've thought???

Minamina Goodsong - Soul Missiles
https://youtu.be/0t_16JrcmhY
Fresh song based on a Feel Flows sample !!!!

Kids & Explosions - You're Good
https://youtu.be/lw8NJpbgBIc
It's heavily turning around samples of Where Is My Mind mixed into Is This It but with the lead guitar of You're So Good To Me dropping on top of it, which gives the title to the song

death’s dynamic shroud.wmv - プライベートアイランド
https://youtu.be/yyr4zLVpOVk
Some pure Vaporwave music which uses Somewhere Near Japan!

Kev Brown - Listen
https://youtu.be/WNdfdvxDQSw
Yep, Don't Talk Smiley

The Pen Friend Club-- Guess I'm Dumb  2013

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9poPcz3rZ4

they also perform other BBs and Spector covers, including one of my fave Ronettes, Do I Love You? :

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=pen+friend+club

AND, in fact, I was surprised by the number of artists that have covered Guess I'm Dumb!      https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=guess+Im+dumb
I especially liked this live version by The Comeuppance featuring a cello:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tlt02unoMtg

This band is NOT all females, there's like two guys in it, and on every studio releases they have done since their debut in 2012 there's lots of Beach Boys covers, When I Grow Up, Please Let Me Wonder, Darlin', Sherry She Needs Me etc...

Jackie DeShannon who had Brian and Marilyn sang on Boat To Sail on her 1975 album "New Arrangement" covered Trader in 2001:
https://youtu.be/NfgYn55h-2Y

A Soul group covering Surfin' in 1963, very good lead:
https://youtu.be/h_NfjoOU_1c

And this more big band? cover of Surfin' USA from 1963 too by Bobby Rydell
https://youtu.be/JNb-e4fwfY0

Some cool jazzy instrumental cover (this time it does keeps the main melody to remind you, unlike the 4th Of July one!) of 'Til I Die from 2014:
https://youtu.be/tKcEBSVRRDQ

And a more cool normal indie cover of 'Til I Die here, you would think it's a new artist, but this is actually from 1992:
https://youtu.be/SfJIBg1fqC8

Tremolo Beer Gut, a surf modern instrumental band covering Pet Sounds, 1999:

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Here's an interesting cover of "Good Vibrations" by Psychic TV. Lead singer Genesis P-Orridge adds a curious spoken section at 3:47:

"Words are falling over us
Time cascading down
And I see you slithering
Like a snake in a golden crown
[Next bit incomprehensible]
Around the black line with eyes that shine
And I am old and I am young
Waiting to belong"

Back to topic...

I heard this cool a cappella version of "I Get Around" by Kings College Choir (aka The King's Men) on Dutch classical radio just now:

Mods, is it possible to move this thread to "General On Topic Discussions"? It deserves better! Roll Eyes

I somewhat remembered that Linda Rondstadt did a version of "Don't talk" but I didn't know about "In my room":

(Edited but 200% true observation, folks. Definite food for thought...)

Gerry & The Pacemakers sing songs best: "Hello...", "How do you...", "Where Have You Been", many else. Gerry Marsden = national brand. Stellar singer.
