...not appeared on one but recorded one as a solo artist. I'm too old to remember.

Honestly....does it really matter? This board is becoming more like the Hoffman board every day! Without the holy benediction of the Beatles, it can NEVER be great!

I don't believe so.
Obviously Paul has worked with Brian several times. Paul even did a duet with Brian on "God Only Knows" in concert once.
Ringo has had Brian appear on his "Time Takes Time" and "Vertical Man" albums.
Not sure if John or George ever had any BB/BW ties.

Look at Youtube and Last.fm comments for the likes of The Kinks and The Move - no one can go 5 minutes without comparing them to The Beatles either. It's so exciting.

It's a well-known fact John did an off the cuff rendition of "The Lonely Sea" during the Twickenham sessions.

The reason I brought this up is because while talking about the BB's the other day with a co-worker, he made a point of the fact that the Beach Boys were obviously the lesser group because they had covered Beatles songs whereas the Beatles kept moving forward.
Personally I thought it was a stupid point to make albeit a interesting one I guess.

Well, it's a well known fact that The Beatles never,
ever
did any covers. How could they - I mean, they're
The Beatles
, a wholly original one-off: no influences at all.

At least, not after their first few albums. But didn't John Lennon do an oldies album in the 70s? Stupid question, I know, but I haven't followed the Beatles solo stuff very much. I imagine that there were no BB covers on Lennon's album or I am sure I would've heard about it by now.

The Beatles did 23 covers from 1962-1965 and none from 1966-1970. The Beach Boys did 14 covers from 1961-1965 (not including the Party! album). If you include Party!, they did 25 covers through 1965 and only 4 from 1966-1970.
The only Beatles songs the Beach Boys covered where I Should Have Known Better and Tell Me Why and it was a quick cover album to please and hold off Capitol.

So The Beatles was the better group because they "kept going"?!!!
The Beatles broke up in 1970 which coincidentally was the same year that The Beach Boys issued "Sunflower" (followed the next year by "Surf's Up").

Ah, yep! Forgot that one and it's actually one of my favorite Beatles songs. I don't see how Back in the USSR and With a Little Help were ever going to be released.
One I believe I've heard they did was Ticket to Ride, an outtake from Party.

I like the Beatles a bit more than the Boys of Beach, I think Brian's band is the tops---really amazing. And finally, I'm liberal. That's it.

Assuming it's the same song, yes. Currently, I've no idea one way or the other.

I wonder how many great unreleased songs the Beatles had. That is one very frustrating thing about being a BB fan. They have so many incredible songs that have never been officially released, and so many lesser songs from the same era.

Great unreleased Beatles songs? Hmmm...let's just say that their unreleased songs were that way for years for a reason.

I would bet money that You KNow What To Do(from Anthology) would have gotten Brian's attention, had it been properly recorded and released.
