The triumph of The Hickey Script !

Just re-viewing this video... and I'd entirely forgotten how good Mike was in it - engaging, strong, strong vocals and yes, funny.

Unfortunately, I'd also forgotten quite how sh*t-faced Carl was: he shouldn't have been allowed out of the house, much less on stage. "I'd like to introdroucre you to my brother Dennis Wilson..."... which brother, btw, was the most together of the three that night - how scary is that ? Actually, Dennis looked great that show.

Most poignant moment  - Carl singing "God Only Knows" as his marriage was crashing around him, totally off his face and still turning in a great performance.

Best bit, by a country mile - Dennis, and "You Are So Beautiful".

Totally agree - for me Mike was the glue that kept that gig together !!
Great video , just a shame I/(we) dont have the whole show :-(
Nice to hear the little performed Country Pie , and Lady Lynda

Just wish Carl could have done something with his hair

I agree with all you said-It is really sad how together Dennis seems at that show-and still looking quite good.  It's a shame that by the end of that year he was hell-bent on the road to ruin.  So the video captures him just before he set about destroying himself.  Compare the Dennis in that video to the man on the drums in Atlantic City in 1983...Like night and day. Very sad.

The really odd part is when Dennis whispers something in Carl's ear, right after Carl swears(this was being broadcast on tv, I believe). You can just tell that Dennis is probably telling him to get it together.

Actually, I think comparing the Australian video to the Seattle 1983 one is worse than Atlantic City. Dennis actually looks grey. His skin color I mean, not his hair. When he climbed up onto his drumset right after "You're So Good To Me", it's actually quite amazing that he didn't fall.

I wonder if the show that Carl actually had to apologise for still exists on film?

I think so, but not in a broadcastable form.

Obviously. There is this semi-sadistic part of me that wants to see the trainwreck version of Darlin', just to see why Carl misses half of the second verse.

Pretty sure that was because he fell over.

How does one view the video that Andrew references in his first post?
