What's this?? A friend sent me an MP3 that sounds suspiciously SMiLE-esque.
Has anyone ever heard this? It's labeled The Study Break.

Man, I really like this.

It reminds me SO much of The Little Girl I Once Knew. The fluttering keyboards and chord changes are so similar. This is pretty cool.

Any way to hear samples from that to see if it's the same person as who did this song?

We've gotta find more of this stuff.

It's actually starting to annoy me now. I had it on repeat. Unlike the SMiLE track Holidays of which this most resembles, it gets annoying.

For some strange reason it caused "He's A Doll" to get going in my head a few minutes later.  Anyway, an obvious and very direct Brian homage.

I agree with the The Little Girl I Once Knew comparisons. Doesn't sound like anything that could be on Smile, though.. even though it has a very Cabinessencey banjo-type string plucking thing going on.

Yeah. Sounds artificial and a product of now trying to replicate the SMiLE sound.

Who the heck they tryin' to fool?

Tryin' to fool nobody! I just wanted to see what might be said about my friend's band. Michael was listening to Beach Boy overload at the time they recorded this particular track. They are Fortune & Maltese & The Phabulous Pallbearers.
These guys have opened up for ? & The Mysterians, Dick Dale, Mitch Ryder, Link Wray, The Trashmen, among others.
They are inspired by the likes of the above as well as the Standells, The Monkees, Beach Boys, Max Frost & Troopers, et al.
Great hooks, super talented kats, vocal & harmony heavy tunes!! They are a lot of fun! Listen to some of their other goodies.
