I've been rolling this over in my head for a couple weeks now....  I've always been intrigued by the subtitle of Heroes and Villains on the Odeon SMiLE boot - "A Musical Comedy".  It isn't, really.  But it could be.  I think Heroes and Villains could be expanded into a 12-15 mini-musical.  Something like this:

"Act One"
* The single version up to the chorus, for the most content; the 'Cantina' version cuts the beginning of the song short.
* The Cantina verse
* After "You're under arrest", cut to the 'chase' scene - the "Fire" intro from the boxed set.
* "Healthy wealthy and often wise", followed by the whistle and distortion.
* The slow ending (like on BWPS), with the horse and harmonica leading to the lone trombone playing the intro riff.  (I believe the Odeon SMiLE version ends the 'part one' section like this.)

"Intermission"
* The instrumental 'bicycle rider' theme, ending with the falsetto acapella 'doo d-doo d-doo, doo - doo - doo' and climbing 'ahhh-ahhh' harmonies.

"Act Two"
* Essentially "Sections", starting with the 'Gee' chorus.
* "Swedish Frog" serves as 'snoring', leading us into "I'm In Great Shape" (the piano rendition).
* Next is "Barnyard" - likely a mix between the demo and the instrumental backing.
* Some sort of transition back to "A-heroes, a-heroes..."
* "My children were raised..." and a chorus.
* Repeat of the climbing 'ahhh-ahhh' harmonies.

"Curtain Call"
* 'False Barnyard', with hooting and hollering from the 'Cantina' sessions overlaid.

The only thing I can't figure out is how to transition back from "Barnyard".  The song is similar to the 'a-heroes' section, but they definitely don't match up.

... As long as it isn't openly shared on this board.... (please keep in mind the rules of this board, we're talking on official and unofficial released recordings here). That's where PM's are for.

Check out the Beach Boys Starline website, the place for pictures of many countries Beach Boys releases on 45.

Listening to you I get the music; Gazing at you I get the heat; Following you I climb the mountain; I get excitement at your feet
Right behind you I see the millions; On you I see the glory; From you I get opinions; From you I get the story

If anyone has suggestions about where to add other sections I didn't use (I couldn't see where things like "All Day" could fit), lemme know. :-)

I actually extending the middle 'Bicycle Rider' interlude by inserting all of "Do You Like Worms"... but I wasn't sure if that was meant to be part of H&V, or always a separate song.  I mean, obviously it would fit the theme!

EDIT - You know, I *am* considering making a 'version 2.0' of this... there are some things I feel need tweaked.  But that won't be for a bit.

Seems like this guy named Brian Wilson also felt compelled to tweak this song and a few others a time or two as well. Grin

Oh, I know. :-)  I felt very Brian-ish, because as soon as I uploaded it, I start thinking "Ohhh, I should've done this differently!"

I never could find an isolated recording of the Beach Boys hooting and hollering Cantina-style, so the 'curtain call' is just as it was on the Odeon boot - does this exist??  I mean, I assume it was recorded separately, because the Cantina section exists without it (the version heard in my mix)...
